We were hoping to hoping to visit Chicago this year before this shit storm started.
I’ve read conflicting opinions on the place but if Covid-19 is ever under control and international travel returns I’m thinking by your description we might enjoy somewhere else better?

It’s a nice place to visit but you don’t want to live here. It is actually a beautiful city. Water, exquisite shopping and food.
It is just run poorly by it’s politics. One of the most corrupt system’s in the US. We are one of the most in debt states in the US.
If you are visiting you will have the time of your life. Live here you are taxed to death. Yep. If you die here you are taxed for that too.

i am sure you have done your research for why you want to visit here, and thats why you want to visit here. so, i would say YES, visit here.
@rcleven put it in a nutshell. to elaborate = . yes, the politics SUCK here, the mayor is a POS. and most of shitcago is a dump, stay far away from the south and west side, unless you want to die. BUT, the downtown area is VERY INTERESTING ! the Art Institute, Museum of Science and Industry = must see ! Wrigley Field if your a baseball fan, the lake, Navy Pier, and others i can’t think of now.
oh, when walking around downtown, be alert and carefull. there are some real pieces of shit walking around. not a lot, but a few. easy to stay clear of when spotted.
another reason i say Shitcago, outside of the downtown area, its kinda bland, not much to do, very plain. but, if you have never been to a LARGE amusement park, go to Great American. “if” you are a big Blues Brothers fan, i live about 5mins from the prison.
so, you have found that you would like to visit here. i say have a good time !

We visited NY and LA about five years ago and enjoyed our time in both.I found NY as I expected being full on and expensive!
For me personally though the 911 memorial museum was the place I’ll always remember. A truly moving experience.
We have been researching but my wife has spoken to a couple of people she knows who told us not to visit Chicago or San Francisco as they’re both a bit dangerous for tourists.
I certainly don’t want to upset anybody by saying that and apologise if I have but hence my question.

what about Honk Kong, Tokyo or something like that ? i could spend a month in both those places. 6 months in Europe and not be able to see all i wanted.

I had an issue with my GC purchase a couple days ago. I searched high and low and wasn’t charged nor any confirmations so I purchased a GC again and it went through immediately.

I noticed that also. There’s a glitch in their system. I tried to replicate it the other night cause I experienced the same thing. Once I got to checkout it didn’t give PayPal option and is when I ordered a GC. After searching high and low for the GC that never came, I ended up using another browser and got to checkout which had a totally different visual look (but still same company) and allowed me to checkout with PayPal. I don’t think they use a backend program that uses fit to page Carousels, instead format it depending on device and avenue a user reaches their site with so it displays differently. Believe it or not they had actually emailed me a week or so ago and asked me if I wanted to pay using PayPal instead Bc one of my orders never completed
