Im currently experimenting with flavor %, usualy single or double flavored repcies. And what i noticed is that when i only use arround 0.50% or even a few drops of flavor in my 60 or 70 vg juice, the taste is better, not so overpowerd or " muted", its not so harsh, its a slight hint of the flavor in the juice. Vape feels more “soft” and smooth when inhaling. I would dare to say that 3% is my new max limit. This goes for all flavors. Anyone else have this experience?
Everybody’s taste buds are different (whaduya mean you don’t like what I like!), but I’m in the same boat. Recipes didn’t really start coming to life for me until I dropped most flavors about 10% or more below the average. I can get a shiver if I see a recipe over 20% flavor, but that doesn’t mean that person should be shipped off to a leper colony
This is what DIY is all about
His % is very low indeed. So i gues he measures in drops?? How many gram is 1 drop of PG flavor actually?
somewhere between .03 - .04 grams i believe
dont you have a scale?
@JD140 @SmokyBlue was a she, and she was a mixing magician with not only JUST using Flavorah, but mixing VERY low.
Yes i have one but its difficult to measure so low. But i tested it couple minutes ago, and 0.25gr is arround 12 to 14 drops of pg flavor. Dont get any better than that
Yes I don’t like premades because they give me vape tongue and it drove me nuts which is why I’ve been making my own for the last 10 years with 4% flavor total and is quite enough for me.
My first DIY mixes were pretty low, like 3% to 7%, because I was afraid the flavor would get muted.
It didn’t really work for me. The flavor was there, but it felt kinda incomplete. I was only using 2 or 3 flavors.
One of them I didn’t even shake well, and the first tank was amazing, probably because the flavor got stuck at the top.
Then I started mixing at 10 to 12%, using like 6 or 7 flavors, and that actually filled in the gaps I was missing. But they do need some steep time to blend properly, I tried my strawberry milkshake with 10 days and it wasn’t good enough, after 20 days it hit the spot I was looking for.
I heard someone say once:
“If you use 1 or 2 flavors, it’s like a singer alone. Super clear. But if you add more, it’s like a band, and you gotta balance the volume so it sounds right.”
It really comes down to your own taste and the kind of mix you want.
With fruits i could get enough with low %, but the taste would only hit for a second and then vanish. So I started adding stuff like marshmallow, meringue or snow cream to hold the flavor. Then I had to bump the fruit up again so it would still be the main thing.
Now I just keep adjusting the % until it tastes the way I want, mostly of the ones I mixed a second time were in the range of 10-13%.
I only use mesh strips at 50W, which really changes the flavor.
With a single coil RDA, it tastes way off, much more sugary to me.
Mesh feels cooler in my throat, and I even got a longer 810 glass drip tip just for that
