i see huge corporations getting tax breaks for this and that and these churches with their pastor being flown in his private jet being exempt , an athlete who earns a medal should not be taxed for that medal at all , yes we all have to pay taxes but this particular time of every 4 years shld be exempt
I see your point and I respect it, I just donât agree with it. These athletes earn residual income when they get back. They get ad deals to sell tennis shoes, sports gear, they end up on Wheaties boxes⌠they paid for all of it.
yes endorsements and anything that is not achieved ( medals ) should be taxed so basically here is what im saying August 2016 while an athlete is participating in the olympics and if they win a medal it should not be taxed however when the olympics end and those athletes go on and make money based on their achievment sure tax rthem of course and tax them in the highest tax bracket allowed but as for the value of that medal shame in the IRS
i think on the purse from a professional tennis tournament, yes she should pay taxes. Certainly on any monies she receives as endorsements related to her participation in the olympics as well. I take issue with taxing the actual medal as income, mostly because it is the direct product of proving they are the best, not really payment for doing the job. Iâve got to think most olympians do not treat their medals like an asset to be sold for profit, instead preferring to keep them as trophies. Certainly they do get sold, but I suspect largely in times of hardship. In terms of treating sponsorships like equipment, airfare, room and board, etc as income, again, it seems short sighted, these people do this for the glory and notoriety of their country, and it is largely a break even barely (if you are good) proposition I suspect. No one is making millions as an olympic athlete outside of endorsement deals. Taxing the medals just says âhey, thanks for showing up and proving how great our country is on the world stage, now pay upâ
Big difference between taxation before/after the olympicsâŚand during the olympicsâŚduh.
Are you really surprised that they tax that, look what theyâre doing to us.
Iâm not surprised I just think itâs really Shitty
amen to that
I get your point but you still have to pay taxes if you are famous, right? Gold is money though, right?
Are they deducting Social Security, as well?
Iâm getting close to retirement, and want as many contributors as possible, kicking in.
USA! âŚUSA!..USA!
al sharpton is famousâŚhe doesnât pay taxesâŚ
I dont think they can squeeze the SS out of a gold medallionâŚ
