WF - Vanilla Ruyan Custard Dryness

Hey everyone,

I am having an issue with a recipe where WF - VRC is the main note, followed by 3 Flavorah tobaccos which (i know from SFTing) don’t contribute to the dryness at all. The mix is very palate-drying, and almost instantly. My first batch has been steeping 9 days, being kept in the dark and cool, and being shook once every 2 days. This photo below was an edit I made this morning, raising the tobaccos a bit, and lowering the VRC. I went from 6.2% - 5.5% total flavor, but I think after a week steep this new batch will also be drying.

Does anyone have experience with recipes using this flavor as the main note? What did YOU use to combat the dryness it gives?

I was thinking maybe 0.5-0.75% of WF - Marshmallow (Gooey), but decided to post this before trying it, as my bottle is running low.

The recipe is below. Any help would, as always, be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ELR, and I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Cheers,
Igor

P.S. This was meant to be a mix for my Geekvape Wenax-U (pod device), but I always test my mixes on my Hadaly (Ni80, 3x28g/40g, 0.4 Ohm, 35-40w) and make most changes on the Hadaly versions. Finally I edit the final Hadaly mix one time after trying it out on a NEW 0.7 Ohm Pod. This is that final mix before being tried out on the pod. It’s loaded with flavor to the point of saturation. So if anyone could help, the palate drying effect is all I need help with. The flavors (and overall flavor profile) are exactly where I want them to be.

I don’t mix enough for pods…but I am guessing the profile is too dynamic between all the baco flavors…meaning the complexity is not translating through pod pulling out each different note and just muddling it together.

I run into this when combing mango flavors for my mtl setup.

If I was forced to make this commercially for paycheck I would pick one bacco as the main note at the 1% and dropped the rest down to 0 percent or less than 0.5 to 0.25%

I know I solo’d the Ruyan Custard but it was too long ago to remember if I noticed a dryness. I usually use it with Vanilla Custard (SC) (WF) or some other custard to juicy it up. That said, when using Kentucky Blend and Red Burley most folks follow the lead from Fear’s Cardinal, using it at 0.25 and 0.75 respectively.

You’ll see this recipe all over the place, pretty popular.

I have a different experience than you with FLV tobaccos. I find them drying and astringent. What I mix them with influences the outcome of that. Unless you’re married to Native Tobacco, try dropping it and adjust the other two, if you’re so inclined. You might find the final outcome softer. There are many approaches you can take with this.

I’d add a neutral cream to that and maybe some marshmallow, like FA, not gooey.

Ruyan WF is a magnificent flavor, but one of the driest out there (for me at least) and creams wouldn’t override the dryness enough even if i would throw 5% of creams in that. It would taste amazing on knuckle test, but for vaping it would be too dry after a while…

Personally i don’t use it over 1.5% after i got familiar with it (but i see some popular recipes use it at 4% so maybe it’s just me; i too have this problem with Ruyan only and not with other tobaccos). So my first thing would be to lower that percent down (and i would too remove Native; you don’t need 4 tobaccos)
