Was terrible. The people of Boston sent up lots of bodies for help, supplies and food. If the explosion didn’t get you the cold temperatures did. So as thanks every year we send a very large Christmas tree down that is put up and decorated in the Boston common.
There is a local restaurant called the Five fisherman not sure what it was called back then, was actually used as a place to keep the bodies. A very active ‘ghost’ place to this day.
A large cannon…launched 5kms away. One of the large anchors…2kms (approx) away. In Halifax a good portion of the buildings were stone and still stand today. It was an insane accident that caused lots of damage/death.
I just now read about it. Absolutely horrifying. I can’t even fathom what it must have been like to be one of those people caught in the blast, buried under rubble and then covered by a snowstorm. It must have been hell to be crushed half alive and then frozen to death. I can only hope a lot of people just blacked out and didn’t struggle clinging to life for hours. Unfortunately that very well must have happened to some.
Speaking of waves, I can’t believe that it caused a tidal wave, too! Even though it was so long ago, I’m glad that NS got the help it needed. Your expression of gratitude is what the world severely lacks. Young men and women all over the world have given their lives for the sake of helping other countries and our leaders quickly forget that. Sure, because it’s not their behinds on the front lines.
Kind of changing the subject but it is something I was up to. A friend of mine who has turned 80 yrs old has finally had her book of poems published. She’s been wanting this for a long time and it’s finally up on Amazon. I may have bought the first copy I didn’t tell her. She doesn’t think anyone is interested in poems anymore and doesn’t expect to sell any copies but she just wanted to accomplish this before she leaves this dear world. Good for her. She’s had a very difficult life and I’m happy for her. Her poems reflect her love of nature and her personal relationship with it. I’m not here to plug her poems but if you or a young one in your family likes nature poems, you might like it. It’s rated 5-18 yrs old.
Many things but today it took the whole day to track down a 30 ml bottle of Custard Premium (FA). I KNOW I bought it and I looked everywhere starting in my FA drawer, of course. I went so crazy that I started looking at all my past BCF orders because I know I got it there. But that’s a lot of orders to sift through since it was at least a year ago. Bingo, I found it on an invoice so I know I’m not demented. Knowing that I really did buy it gave me confidence that I could find it. That may prove that I am demented. Instead of being in the “Cs”, I found it in the “Vs”. What was I thinking, Vanilla Custard? No system of organizing is going to work for me, I need a magic brain pill.
It’s awesome that you keep invoices and have a little inventory system lol. Don’t be so hard on yourself! At least the V for Vanilla made sense! Sounds like something I would do. I hate when I lose a flavor, especially because I’m so organized chaos when it comes to my room.
My own flavor organizer cabinet has been 3/4 finished and sitting my my room. I just need to hang the sucker up. Had to get drywall anchors. 2nd screw deflected off the drywall, pushed the whole thing off the wall and took the other screw and a chunk of plaster off with it. Nothing a little dry wall patch couldn’t fix… But Id prefer to not have holes in my wall. I think I will try to limit myself to whatever fits in this cabinet. It’s still got at least 60 slots spaces of expansion space.
@muth, I have been there, done that. V’s or C’s, hehe, yup.
I tried every possible way to keep it un-chaotic, and the only method that worked, was group by MFG, then alpha from the label names actually on the bottle. Every other attempt, failed.
Muth, I use clear bins on wheels. Sorted by manufacturer, sorta. All 60’s and larger go on the left. 30’s beside them. New flavors stay separate for me to see until first use. Whenever I use a flavor it moves to the back. This way, the seldomly used move to the front so I know where to start looking.

Both returns are free unless you earn over a certain amount, then you pay $14.99 for your state return. For people with simple enough returns, I haven’t found anything better (yet). Their website is very user friendly.
