A local radio station has a one day sale for their “KBCO Studio C” CD. Live performances from artists performing in Studio C. The artists agree to donate their performances. Limited number of copies and the proceeds go to Food Bank of the Rockies and the Boulder AIDS Project. This is Volume 33 and I have been buying them every year for the past 25 years. Today was the day, and I was glad to keep my tradition going. Even phoned my ex-wife to let her know I got her a copy (we are on very good terms). I’ll be listening to it in the car tomorrow morning and will be giving a few copies as stocking stuffers.
I fucken love the king!
Reminds me of the late night talks with my dad when he was alive. Even on…Christmas my dad would play .all Elvis Christmas cd’s! I know like all his songs! Best was I think was 67’ special “one night with you” when they were saying Elvis movements were too “sexual” so they were ordered to sit on stools but then Elvis would get his eyes going! At one point through his single one night with you, he stands up n one of his band members shouts jokingly “your gonna get yourself arrested boy!” I could go on for hours about the king of rock and roll.
Yes! Another Elvis fan!!!, we DO stiĺl exist!
I am VERY familiar with Elvis Christmas. My Dad was a huge fan as well. He saw him in San Francisco in 1976 and I was supposed to go with him but my parents had been newly divorced and my mom was mad at him so she wouldn’t let me go. Wish I could have seen him. When Elvis died, I heard about it on the radio and immediately called my dad and offered him my condolences. He was really shaken up (no pun intended…ok, maybe a little). Whenever I hear any Elvis song, my first thought is of my Dad, then I enjoy the music.
I was a fan as a kid. My Grandma had all the vinyls and we listened to them from beginning to end. I preferred him in his early leather days too as opposed to the jumpsuit days. His last concert was in my state of Ne. and sad to see how he let himself go. Struggling to even perform.
I’ve watched biographies on him and read a few books. He was a mama’s boy {nothing wrong with that} but after Priscilla had their child, he wouldn’t touch her as he saw her as a mother figure. Damn… Aside from all his many quirks he is an icon and was very much talented. Oh and he was a natural blonde… xD
Hot!!..
Not so much…
They called Elvis’s death “The day the world cried”
Getting to the end of all paperwork for 2021, so the Reith Lectures and a Curious Cases about it has been refreshing background noise.
Even if electronic music isn’t in your wheelhouse, give this one a try on some nice stereo speakers, the production is just marvelous:
I’m having a relaxing day of chatting and designing. So, when miracle cures came up in the discussion - I couldn’t resist the first song that came to mind.
Thank you, Adam Blackstone.
