What Are You Listening To? (Part VI) 2022/23

@mstokens Thanks for this one. I haven’t thought about Wishbone Ash in decades. I remember playing them on the radio in 1972-1974 but don’t remember what tracks I played. Time for me to hit youtube !!

They do a bang up job on Thela Hun Ginjeet too (different show)

EDIT - that performance rocked but the video was corrupt and kept sticking

The Flying Frog Brigade did a fearless version

@SessionDrummer
Rick Beato referred to this documentary in his Mastodon “What Makes This Song Great” video.
It’s about drumming. Have you seen it? He said it’s the studio famous for great drumming sound.
I bookmarked it because anything Rick mentions is worth a look IMO.

@Mowgli I love Rick, and he really knows his stuff, and breaks it down to the granular level.

I had Farewell To Kings & 2112 on LP mid 70’s and got All The World’s A Stage soon after.
La Villa Strangiato’s a trip but Freewill really trips my trigger.
Of course it was Train To Bangkok in High School. It’s all good.

I enjoy strong percussion In music.
And Venus Hum has a strong voice.
I actually enjoyed this cover more than Donna Summers original work.

Wow @Mark_Turner, having seen the BMG more than once, this was an interestingly different feel.

This song & White Rabbit (another remake) have earned my forever respect for BMG. Baba O’Riley too.

That one blue dude was killing on the tube thingys and I didn’t know how he could possibly power through the entire song… and then I caught them switching out a couple of times

My favorite version of The Other One out of the dozens I know is from Carousel Ballroom Feb. 14, 1968

at archive dot org/details/gd1968-02-14.sbd.miller.89676.sbeok.flac16

Quote from a post I made on a different forum in 2012
"OT - That’s It For The Other One was playing (on my stereo) while Selene opened her wrist to awaken Count Victor in the movie Underworld - very dark

(Review stub from thebestofwebsite.com) (That site is down for the count as of 9/9/22)
The set begins with the suite of “That’s It For The Other One>
i. Cryptical Envelopment
ii. The Other One
iii. Cryptical Envelopment.” The version has a real hard rock feel to it. The energy and intensity could fit on a Black Sabbath album. "
