What Are You Listening To? (Part VI) 2022/23

Out of breath can happen, for sure. When Dave Mason played here in Denver, he made it through the show, but took an extra long break before the encore. He was breathing oxygen in the back so he could get back on stage and do his encore. I knew him from Traffic and a few solo songs, but didn’t realize what an incredible guitar player he was. Was a great gig to see.

This is a great folk singer:

He has a new song out on Bandcamp called Hi’s And Low’s…

“Now I see the world goin’ on fire
what yesterday was sure today is not
who’s up in a golden throne now tomorrow may fall
we all have to go through hi’s & lo’s”

While listening to a New Wave mix, I heard The Essence. It’s like finding a whole new catalog of Cure songs…but not. :star_struck:

They got along so well…until Michael bought the rights to the Beatles’ catalogue. Paul thought he was kidding about buying it. He purchased the rights while Paul was working out a bid to buy back the rights. I lost some respect for Michael Jackson because of the way it went down.

Was listening to some Al Green that I haven’t played in a while. Gotta make more time for the Rev.

Our very own @ozo knew Michael Jackson personally. We had an interesting conversation.a couple years ago about MJ and life on Neverland Ranch. :monkey:
Despite all the controversy surrounding MJ he was a true talent. Here’s my fav song of his…

Heehee, I have a special song that cools me down, too. KILLER JOE. I was searching it and found this arrangement I had never heard before. @Mark_Turner being a horn player you might like this, too. Get a load of Herbie’s solo…and the horn section crushes it! Wow, just WOW!

Great song @muth I remember this concert. Quincy Jones Birthday bash. I believe it was at the Apollo Theatre? I could be wrong.
Anyhow, while I enjoy a wide array of music genres. And am fond of horns & winds. I do not plat any horn instruments? I am wandering if maybe you have me confused with Bam Bam Bigelow.

The Island Boys came up in conversation, and as I was blissfully ignorant regarding them, I sadly decided to investigate their music:

Definitely more painful than listening to the songs referencing the alleged shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. That was certainly not a joyous bit of research.

They said they regret selling their souls to the devil which I found interesting… lots of that lately
