My earwig for the day
Currently learning this on my Les Paul. Man I love Carlos! His use of the Dorian mode is near flawless!
If it’s the same song I’m thinking about, it’s no easy lick. Well nothing he does is easy for a guitar player unless your name is Eric, or Stevie…
Actually “Smooth” isn’t that difficult. The bridge is mostly A minor, F major/E7 with lead breaks in Dorian and Aeolian (minor scales). Just started on the song 2 days ago so I should have it down in a few more days. “Black Magic Woman” is another shining example of him embracing the Dorian mode. That one took me almost 2 weeks! LOL
Wonder Woman , one of favorite tunes.
Bo Burnham came up in conversation today and I thought, ’ have you never listened to Tim Minchin, Stephen Lynch or Boothby Graffoe?’
I could even go into the way Al Stewart and others perform.
First album I ever bought. Still in Jr High and it had already been out a couple of years. Was amazed back then of Jon Lord’s keyboard work and still amazed today. Rest in peace, sir
I remember a friend buying this album my freshman year in college. Was a fantastic recording of a live performance. Thanks for the memories.
@Cary1 @SessionDrummer And to think that this album would not have existed if not for Japanese promoters talking them into it… DP never ever wanted to do a live album, period.
That’s funny because I heard the same thing. I guess good THING for the Japanese Promotion Team ehh ?
I was in Germany in the early 70s and Deep Purple came around pretty often. I have to say that they’re the best live band I’ve ever seen. I can vividly remember Jon Lord rocking his Hammond back and forth… almost flipping it over. Those were the days!
Love Supertramp. When they were all together, what a group. Without Roger Hodgson, it’s not the same.
