Holler if you use an Android phone, and need help with that. If your phone isn’t already capable of tethering, I know of an app that works flawlessly (and isn’t complicated).

My understanding (is a Southern one) was always that the gov is much akin to “the peanut gallery” at times. And peanuts are/were often referred to as goobers.

Couldn’t tell you the initial origin. It was a term frequently used in the military. Known to us as Fucked up beyond all repair. Another was SNAFU, it’s diminutive brother Situation Normal, All Fucked Up. Both were fully accepted through all ranks and cherished expressions. Like our observations as civilians both most often referred to gooberment.

I can relate, @Dardy. My ISP is the only one who offers “Service” (if you can call it that) in my area aside from the unreliable and data-capped satellite providers. I live in a rural area so there’s just no monetary incentive for anyone to build out the network near me. I’ve had 3mb download speeds on my DSL for over a decade, and it was dial-up or ISDN before that. They have no plans to upgrade and no other ISP has any interest in serving the area so I’m pretty much stuck for life ‘using a coffee stirrer to wash the car.’ And it’s got a pretty lame SLA of like 95%. It’s all because they have the monopoly and simply don’t care. I complain every few months but it won’t matter.
Oh, and it’s way too expensive for what it is, too.

I’ll do you one better than that lol, where I live there is fiber optics available, super fast internet for cheap from several different carriers, and I’m stuck with satellite internet only because my house sits a quarter mile off the road and all the good providers want me to pay to run the cable back to the house from the road, and I haven’t been quoted a number that wasn’t in the thousand’s of dollars just to run the cable.
I’ve tried telling them that we’re gonna be living here for at least 15 years, maybe 20, and we will need Internet the whole time, but it’s not worth messing with for them…

Yep. My friend in Virginia went through that. Luckily, a rich guy with a big house relatively close to theirs wanted to sell, so he paid to have it run for home resale value. Got it close enough that my buddy’s neighborhood got the upgrade too. I have no such wealthy friends or neighbors to move it along, unfortunately.

lol both my neighbors have the same property size, but their houses are up by the road…I look at it as a small price to pay to not hear traffic or see the urban sprawl that’s ever encroaching on what used to be my tiny little town…across the street from me was a cornfield when I was a kid, now it’s close to 800 houses, a shopping center, and about 6 warehouses and they are building more every week… from my front door though the view hasn’t changed:)

That’s why I moved where I live now too. 18 years later, it looks the same. When I want city, I can go visit city. Most of the time, I do not want city.

My condolences. Apparently when I ordered a 24mm KFL 2019 I clicked on the 22mm by accident (so they said). And since it’s my fault I didn’t review my order I have to pay for return shipping. Hate when that happens.

You come to an intersection with stop signs. You motion the other driver to go but they are stubborn and won’t move. They motion you to go. You have your reasons for them to go first but they won’t. Are you kidding? If I come to a stop sign the same time as another driver and they motion me to go, I’m outta there.

The son of a good friend of mine on an auto forum lost his son yesterday from complications caused by vaping THC oil pods. Very sad and I feel just terrible for him. The dad admitted that it was the THC pods that his boy vaped (he was in his 20’s so ‘boy’ in name only), and conceded that he understood the difference between THC oil and traditional nicotine vaping.
The reason I have posted this in this thread is due to the reactions from other forum members there. Makes me want to kick them in the head, really hard. Responses like “I have a few reasonably intelligent friends that are still actually vaping, morons!!” and “I pray that the government makes vaping illegal and charges store owners with murder because vaping is killing too many people”.
I will not begin to debate them in a thread dedicated to the life of a lost child. And the father is not one of those commenters trashing vaping in general. But when I hear misinformed jackasses saying things like that it makes me want to shake them violently.

It’s a shame anyone of the thc vapers dies due to gross negligence… not sure when it happened, but this stuff should be all over the thc sites, and people should be warning others. Sure we all say it was the doppers, but it goes to show, be careful!! if you need to get hit, twist one up the old fashioned way…
