WHAT Has Made You Smile Today? (II)

Yep…Go Av’s for this Denver guy. However, the past 2 games they have been outplayed by a bunch. The SOG differential is incredible. I’m hoping home ice makes a difference.

And my smile for the day is being able to provide in-person Peer Support today at one of the locations we serve. Gotta say, it felt good…much better than Zoom. My two folks who provide the support really enjoyed being back in-person. I think the folks we serve appreciated it, which is the BIG win.

Having a pair of coots and their chicks trying follow me in the park. I may have a very shiny head but I had to remind them that I’m not their god.

What’s the difference between a dog and a wife? You can lock your dog in the trunk of your car for six hours and when you open it, she’s happy to see you.

The family is working on losing weight, recently. We’ve been going to the park and walking the 1.6 mile track.

First visit had me gasping and stopping every ¼-⅛ mile to stretch my knees and shins as I have bad knees.

Second visit, I only stopped every ⅓-¼ mile.

Third and most recent visit ½ mile stops!

And my jeans are getting looser! As are the hub’s!

It’s working! I’m so disappointed that we allowed ourselves to get so badly out of shape. However, I’m so proud that we are doing something to fix it!

and watch the diet. i need to get up off my ass, FoSho. but i am planning a home improvement project = the middle of my house has 2 posts holding it up. they have seen better days and the footings never were good. so my plan is to jack the house up in the middle and put new concrete footings.

We’ve been watching the diet for a few months, lol, now it’s time for the “get active” portion, hahaha :joy:

any particular diet ? i tried keto, and it works, but vape gives me the munchies, so.

walking is very good, highly under rated. try stretching and lifting whatever weights your comfortable with . i could use to drop 20#

Nothing with a name, no. Just low fat, lots of veggies, lighter and FEWER snacks, and better choices, all around, you know?

Yeah, I stretch before we leave the house, after we get there, after we walk, and after we get home. It helps to prevent the after exercise pains.

I’m not at the weights, yet. Can’t afford to purchase them or join a gym, hate gyms anyway!

Planning on doing standard exercises like situps and such when I’m a little less heavy. Can’t quite do that, yet, lol

may i advise looking into keto. if you like salads, put salsa on lettuce with some cheeze(check keto). but yes, less is always good.

weights = don’t have to buy them. use your own weight, do squats, situps, pushups, etc . start of with 1, yes, just 1. then later, do another 1. keep doing that, then move up to 2. within 2 months you could be up to 50.

there was a time i did them every workday morning. i got up to 175’ish “real” pushups, and 150 “real” situps.

Unfortunately I’m at 270 lbs and I’m certainly not “pushing up” my own weight at this time lol!

I appreciate the advice, though.

About 7 or 8 years ago I did the same thing I’m doing now to lose 50 lbs in about 4 months, I think. I got to where I was able to do 100 situps in 2 minutes! I was only 200 lbs then and it WAS almost 10 years ago but the method and concept should work. It worked when I joined the Navy, too, lol.

Again, I DO appreciate the advice. I’ve looked into the whole keto thing and it’s just not for me or the family. Kids need carbs. It’s not good for them to be deprived of them, you know? I read several studies on it.

We HAVE cut BACK on carbs but it’s sort of an essential part of a kid’s diet. We only eat whole grain or multi grain, though. Even homemade stuff is made with whole grain, unbleached, unbromated flour. Only our pasta (rarely eaten) is not whole wheat. Just can’t stand the grittiness of whole wheat pasta…

The salad thing is a good suggestion, I myself, I prefer lemon juice and cottage cheese.
