I still think they should bring back these birds. The Carolina parakeet. They’re the only parrot native to Eastern North America. I like to Imagine going for a walk in the woods and seeing these beautiful little parakeets.

We’ve got whole flocks of rose-band parakeets that escaped and do very well in the wild.
They are very noisy indeed and strip a tree in no time.
I managed to sprout a date palm.
It took six months to get to this. Not sure I will live long enough to see an actual tree.

Well, I’m not exactly smiling today, but I am very happy. I just got 10 teeth pulled, 4 of them were wisdom teeth. I have very severe issues stemming from when I lived on my own and was too broke to get dental work done… I went to see 4 different dentists to see what they said and 2 of them accused me of using drugs. wtf. I don’t do drugs!!! It really made me very upset, those two dentists were heartless and treated me like I was a waste of their time.
The guy I went with is amazing though. He had those teeth out so quick, virtually painless, just amazing work! I’m not feeling much pain at all even as the anesthetic is wearing off. It was so much easier than I thought it would be. Some teeth pulled were painful through the anesthetic, but it was due to some pretty bad infection.

You gotta keep those sockets clean. I was gargling with salted water all day long. And make sure you got painkillers handy. Good luck.

They actually gave me a special mouthwash to use. They said to avoid swishing for 24 hours though. I was so freaking hungry, I’ve been eating fruit smoothie packets, but I needed something more. I tried eating some white castles and f-ing food got stuck in the sockets. I didn’t even really chew them. Ffs. I tried to pull it out, then I decided not to screw with them, it’ll be fine.
Too early to swish, but they also gave me super strong antibiotics. No perscruption painkillers, just ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I’ve been taking the ibuprofen closer than 8 hours apart, but I don’t feel any pain. Throats a little sore. I’m going back in a week for a follow up appointment. So far so good!

That’s really awesome!! Having the ability to talk again must be such an amazing huge relief. I don’t think I would make it if I was paralyzed like that.

IIRC I was given a syringe with a curved end and I had to squirt into the sockets. They said if food gets lodged down in one, the skin while healing might cover and lock in the food. Which then rots and causes an infection.
Take care of yourself. I know I was out of it for a weekend due to the surgery.

Aaahhh gosh I had dry socket for almost 2 weeks once man that sucked. I even stopped vaping. I definitely did not want to suck out one of my blood clots out of my healing socket! But I had already somehow and that’s why I had the dry socket. Like most men I was like ah the pain will go away soon it’s just healing. Eventually a dentist visit later the pain was instantly numbed with a little piece of I think eucalyptus gauze packing. Wow what self inflicted stupidity…

Dude, I fell one winter on ice and really hurt my shoulder. Around July I go to a walk-in clinic for something, and I casually tell the female doctor ‘and my shoulder hurts’. When she asks how and when and I said 5 months ago she reamed me a new a-hole.

It’s nuts my sister had a cracked and refused shoulder blade probably from a past car accident they found my other good friends back was broken and refused messed up on its own from a car accident. When you have multiple broken Stuff they don’t always find and fix everything.

Bit of a long read. This weekend the ‘Masters’ is being played in Augusta, Georgia. I bought a golf GPS that had points for Golf Courses, one being that course that could be loaded on my GPS. So looking at that data file in hex I figured out the structures used. 5 or 6 lines of Perl later I had a perfect decoder for their data. A few lines less for the ‘coder’.
Here’s a google earth image of that course. The white pins with CenterXX is the center of the green for each hole.

I remember, like 10 years ago I used to play quake with some friends online. Feels almost like yesterday. Quake live was in browser back then.

@Mediocre_Remedial, I ran a Pro PC Gaming Clan for a while, and completely remember when Q2 came out, and the Voodoo 3dfx cards back in the day. OpenGL was a game changer. Yes to the QuakeLive as well.
