WHAT Has Made You Smile Today? (III)

@Letitia One of my experiences was TRULY a NIGHTMARE from HELL that left me in the hospital with over 25 stitches and killed my dog and made my neighbor move where her dog got out again and killed again and had to be put down. The other pet experiences are the HILARIOUS nightmares.

There was a small post office that operated at the base of the lighthouse during the summer months. 1 little door, room for 1 person with one person behind the counter. Now closed. People can wander around freely on those rocks. A few tourists slip into the water yearly when the rocks get wet. Notice there are no fences or barriers. Oh, stolen photo :sunglasses:

I also smile a bit when we get weather alerts for snow and its for under 2 feet like tonight:

WHAT…Heavy snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow
accumulations of 6 to 12 inches. Greater amounts possible over
higher terrain between Tapiola and Mass City along M-26. Winds
gusting as high as 40 mph could result in brief whiteout
conditions, especially for exposed areas along Lake Superior.

Cute, i mean its snow but it aint heavy snow, hehe. I think that we have gotten a bit over 12 feet this year, thats without Febs totals and that isnt even considered a lot of snow, im not sure if it is even above average for around here. You clearly know what i mean by the looks of that foto and the state yer in. Does it ever make you smile a bit when you see a snow alert for under 2 feet?

Seems to be part of the strategy to get people into fear modus.
I remember that whenever it looked like we got some nice weather and maybe even a heatwave, we were presented with a weather chart that was full of smiling suns.
Today we get code red :smirk:

This made me smile today. There are still decent people around.

We did end up with about 15 inches, still i cleared it up in about an hour and hit some more pot shop sales today.

And that is a wonderful story and sadly it wont makes the rounds like some asshole shooting up a place and running a bunch of people over. Thank you for sharing, that put a smile on both mine and my wifes lovely face.

Are you referring to the weather and geographical differences only or literally 180 degrees in everything like mentality and cultural shifts as well as the weather?

Pretty much everything. But since I’m thinking about it, I could still be living there and after 50 years, I’m sure it would still be completely different. Last time I went to visit, the family ranch was gone and high priced condos littered the grazing fields. Traffic was bumper to bumper with tourists and most of the family owned cattle ranches were converted to dude ranches promising “the cowboy experience”. The nostalgia makes me happy, the reality makes me sad, Nothing ever stays the same, right?

That is such a fitting statement! Thank you for sharing your story.

That’s why I shared this. We, as a species, tend to focus more on the negative than on the positive.
I don’t know if that is programmed into us or just nature. Whatever it is, the result is the same.
Sharing negativity only reinforces negativity and so we go on and on.

They started a good news newspaper in this country many years ago. It didn’t last long.
Apparently people don’t want to know.

Maybe it’s time to revive my silver lining topic

Spares are so important. When I started vaping one of the things I was taught was to have backups and backups to my backups !! Also, thanks for the pic of the chip. Last night was a blast. I had one friend give my my chip, another baked me a cake and Music Night was a huge success. Some folks picked covers that we hadn’t done in a while which is both challenging and fun.

And thanks to everyone for the well wishes. It means a lot to be congratulated.
