I saw Wonder Flavors just from the thumbnail
Damned nice looking there @PaulyWalnuts.
We got SLAMMED with almost tsunami type rains the night before last, grass is growing like crazy, and at night there was a chorus of frogs for some reason. Don’t know where they were, or where they go during the heat of the day, but was grilling …
Have the total opposite here. April was a wet month. May not so much. Dry as a bone. Cutting the lawn produces a dust storm. Tilled and got the garden in Friday and today watered yesterday and the garden was wet only where the sprinkler head was placed. Watered for two hours today. Will see where we are tomorrow.
Yeah @rcleven that’s what I remembered, “April showers brings May flowers” and all that, but WOW. It was almost a straight week of rain (on and off) and the night before last, you would have thought you were in a hurricane or tsunami it was pouring soo hard.
The wind was blowing like crazy yesterday. In the sky was a brown color from dust storms. Rained to the north and south. US? Got about 30 drops on the windshield. It’s been in 90’s the last couple of days. Looking for a good heavy rain.
Dude, I didn’t make that! That was from a restaurant. We asked for extra sausage, and they gave us a “Shit” load!
This was my attempt at recreation this evening.
I think your on an Island? We have something called DoorDash. Order online and they deliver. Most times it’s even warm! Humongous portions that we share.
Mine was better.
Well, if frog legs are good, the whole breaded frog should taste like chicken. How did you shape that? From what?
Neighbors cat kept getting into our garden a few years ago. Trapped it and took it to the pound. We have a neighborhood facebook group where the woman warned people that someone at my address captures cat’s, tortures, and poisons them.
My response? I would never poison a cat! I don’t think the heat from my grill would negate the effects of the poison.
Well speaking ABOUT heat from the grill, I was running the Genesis at 675, and couldn’t believe that little tree frog or whatever it was, was just hanging out !!!
Uh oh, is that a Cuban tree frog? Looks like one. They’re invasive down south, they’ll eat anything that can fit in their mouth, even stuff that doesn’t. When I lived down south I found a couple in plant shipments and kept them as pets.
Have you ever heard of the frog in boiling water experiment? They will sit in the water and as it begins to heat up and boil they don’t feel it. For whatever reason they cant feel temperature increase and they cook themselves.
Maybe it’s the same for sitting on a grill. Idk. Rip frog.
Especially since gold is a soft metal lol
Holy shit! It’s a gray frog! I thought you shaped it and made it look like it’s breaded!
Here I thought I was of the Silent Generation. Seems I’m a Millennial.
Man, y’all got NOTHING to complain about! Central valley, California. So far this month, low to mid 80’s. Upper 40’s at night. Haven’t seen a cloud in over a month. Won’t see more until November.
Ah, but we pretty much have 2 seasons here. Brown and browner. We run our sprinklers year around. Winters low 50’s, summers. triple digits. Average 13% humidity so it’s not completely intolerable.
Hey, I have that! LOVE that wi-fi.
Totally different Part of the US. You can’t compare Central California to Northern Illinois. Growing season here is Zone 7. I have about a three month growing season. It starts next weekend because there is usually no frost after Memorial day. Harvest will start in late August through September. I plant mostly San Marsono tomatoes (36 plants) that I get started from seed in February in my living room window. I take the seedlings out side to get used to wind and direct sun two weeks before planting. The plants are about 10" high by Mormoral day. They get planted sideways, keeping only the top cluster of leaf above ground ( top 2 inches). Those 36 plants will supply me with 20 percent of my food supply for a year. San Marsono are not eating tomatoes. They are plum tomatoes that get blanched, skin removal then blended into a pureed bagged up and frozen till it’s time to make a sauce.
Growing season is very dependent here. It will go down to the mid to high 30’s at night to a humid 90’s during the day. Mostly in 60’s to 70’s highs during the day.
My wife is Italian and we eat pasta like most people eat potatoes as a side. We also planted Big Boys and Better Boys which are eating tomatoes along with sweet peppers. In the left over 1/3 of the garden we plant Pumpkin. The grandkids get their picks for Halloween the leftovers get pureed and the dog gets to eat pumpkin. So yes the growing season here is important here.
