What is kernel A1*2

i just bought some pre build fused clapton wire and it says its kernel: 28GA A1*2 wrapped 32ga A1…is this kanthal? i just built a coil and i was thinking i dont really know what this is and if its safe on wattage mode. can some help me out?

thanks!

Kernel is just an other word for core, A1 is a designation (or grade) of Kanthal alloy.
Your clapton is made from 2 cores of 28AWG and wrapped with a single strand of 32AWG.

Means it outranks the other coils that aren’t Kernels.
