What is Pink Starburst to You!

The " unexplainably juicy " slogan sure fits , @Beaufort_Batches and I had a discussion over Pink Starburst and it being subjective. My fiance’ swears pink starburst is basically pink lemonade and cream and that’s what he gets every time…while I get hints of SB and Watermelon , cream and sour citrus notes. For now I am happy with pink square II and the pink starburst v5 I want to see what a week does for them.

I will fix the red starburst and sub in Bing cherry as it’s an awesome flavor. I have not experienced any of my batches that have had sour or citrus really going bad but then again I typically don’t have such a large quantity of something as I make batches often and they will steep at least a month a lot of them. Anyway good to know to keep an eye on them in case it should start to be a problem. SO @therealDR-GONZO you suggest starting off bing cherry at 0.5% I will drop SB from the recipe and try plugging in the Bing Cherry in it’s place. & @Ohm_Sweet_Ohm I will try out the INW cherry in there also I like that idea. Actually I think I will use reg SB TFA that’s a pretty pliable flavor maybe at 2% kinda tones down the sickly sweetness of the cherries.

I actually never listed the starting percentage that I used for FLV Bing Cherry, but I started at 4%, the 0.5 was Pyure, sorry for the confusion.

As far as the Pink Starburst goes you got me thinking about a pink starburst recipie that I saved a while back and never made due to not having FW Ruby Red Grapefruit, its a Gremlin DIY “leak”, leaked by gremlin themselves on r/DIY_Ejuice.It’s

FW Sweet Tart 3.4%

TFA Strawberry ripe 10%

TFA Sweet Cream 5%

FW Ruby Red Grapefruit 1.6%

He also mentions that this recipe was released for sale and is popular enough that gremlin wouldnt be changing it due to its popularity but if that wasn’t the case he would try to use INW Grapefruit or FLV Pink Guava for the grapefruit and CAP Whipped Cream in place of TFA Sweet Cream… If you want to check out the post search Pink Starburst+GremlinDIY, and that should bring it right up in the results.

I went a head and used 0.4 % bing and 0.2% INW cherry with a SB TFA for rounding and added in some citrus and some sour with cream I’ll remember to up it should it need it. I have never used it above 1% but then again I thought it was plentiful at that %. At least I know you’ve used it up that high and maybe should it need it I may dare to go above the 1% mark

I made a recipe adaption to that gremlin’s leak it was good too !

I have everything to make your adaptation, I’ll be trying that out in a little bit and, maybe a variation with your combination of INW Strawberry Shisha + RF Strawberry from your strawberry milkshake recipie. I really love those two strawberries together + 0.25% INW Strawberry, just to round it out a little bit more and make it that much more heavenly.

It’s pretty darn tasty right out the gate but gets even better and smoother with just a few days steeping. Thank you.

I eat those all the time… they are a strawberry (candy not natural) and cream with a hint of artificial vanilla and a kinda waxy flavour I cant quite describe,

I eat them too but everyone always seems to have their own flavor profile some say watermelon some say strawberry. Even thou they say strawberry on the wrapper I still at times get watermelon and citrus with cream.

Crazy how subjective things are. I’ve made this juice a billion times it seems and depending how I feel that day I will either love it or hate it which leads me to putting it to rest for now. I’ve gone off my quest of the pink starburst and will maybe revisit it another day. I literally have like 5 or 6 versions which most I really like but can’t say one is better than the other lol.

Sorry for the book !

It’s funny how differently we all interpret the taste of things… Ive never gotten a citrus or watermelon from it  but I have weird taste buds im one of those people that thinks cilantro tastes like soap :stuck_out_tongue:

I think too much Cilantro taste like soap as well.

Too much ginger tastes like soap to me. Like the ginger you get with sushi. Yuck!

I know that this was a chat from a while ago, and I don’t know how I got here, lol! I don’t want to sound dumb, and super late to the party. But, I just purchased the pink candy burst type from Real Flavors and have it steeping. It smells perfect!

Nah it’s all good ! I tried the Pink Burst RF Candy and I think it’s great. It misses some key points of the candy for me for instance it is silky sweet and creamy love that but it needs a shot of citrus like key lime or a citrus orange at low micro mixer %s like a drop or two at best to just give the tang that I get from Starburst. The thing is , is we all have different experiences and what Starburst is to me will most likely not be the same thing it is to you. You may never of thought or felt there is a citrus tang in there ( example )

I’d love to hear how your batches come along feel free to post away right here !

Lol, ok, I figured that you had tried it, but just in case, I thought I would put it out there. It makes sense what you are saying. That what the taste is to you is totally different than what it is to me. I think that I haven’t quit cigarettes long enough to taste all of these tiny little flavor notes yet. In time, hopefully.

I have been making a lot of the amazing recipes people have created. And I am surprised at what can happen with mixing together a few flavors, pg/vg and nicotine, and put it away for a while, or even vape it right away!! It’s all still a bit magical to me! I am not really making my own recipes yet. There is one I am working on, but it is hard!! I come back to it now and then. I think that I have all of the flavors, but not in the correct amounts. I am also trying to learn more about each flavor, like the way all of the different creams taste. And what adding marshmallow or merangue does to a recipe. Basically, the common threads I see running through many of the recipes, I am trying to understand them, and why someone would use this flavor over that flavor. I hope that makes sense. Just kind of figuring out the very basic levels of building flavors.

Because you are so successful at this, I would like to know your opinion, if I can ask. What do you do when you have a brand new flavor? What method do you use to figure out it’s properties and taste and how you can use it?

I think I am going to whip this one up and tell ya what I think! (as far as the starburst part, not critique your abilities, hehe)

The issue I am having now, is a large amount of my flavors, are approaching their 2+ year mark! I haven’t noticed that big of a dip in potency, but it’s still there nonetheless. I would have to win the powerball to replace all my damn flavors in my stash!!

Thanks stister!

When I get a new flavor I smell it decide what I think about it good or bad. Then depending on what I’ve read about it I’ll try it stand alone ( on its own) usually around 8 % see if it’s too weak too strong or just right. Is it tasty in snV or does it need a steep. These are some of the things I do when testing a new flavor.

For the record, I will be whipping it up, not wiping it up

Stupid phone, hehe.

I ended up using all the pink burst I had left in this. .02g short. Phew

THAT is a wonderful thing to know! Thank you! I actually wasn’t sure if what I have been doing is correct. But I usually mix up a little sample bottle of my flavors based on the average single flavor use. I vape it, and see what it tastes like. And all of my little single flavor bottles are fun to play around with. For example, I can add rough amounts of the flavors from a recipe to see if I like it, before mixing it. I try flavor combinations by adding a few drops of different things in my tank and taking notes. So, you actually made me feel a lot better about how I am doing things. Thank you for your kind advice! I really appreciate it! I noticed that you are one of the really talented people here (constantly coming out with new recipes and flavor mixes I would not have connected) and very active in the forums. I am so appreciative of your advice!

Ya got me thinkin about starbursts now! You know I love my candy vapes!

Been looking around and what everyone is doing, and I think I have something that may just work… How did adding pink guava work for the Pink Starburst recipe? Did it make it closer or a different monster all together?

I love the FLV Pink Guava but it is very recognizable and has it’s own place in recipes.

And as far as TPA Ripe Strawberry, is this still the closest strawberry for a pink starburst? I know it tends to lean more towards a real strawberry, but is it still what you would throw in if you were aiming for accuracy in comparison to the real thing?
