What is your favorite DIY Custard Recipe or Solo Flavor, and why?

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while since this has been an active topic, so let’s have another go in 2025.

What is your favorite custard recipe, and why?

and/or

What is your favorite custard solo flavor or custard additive, and why?

I’ll start and say that my favorite custards that I have tried to date were from a suggestion I received on Reddit, but after hours of searching I couldn’t find the post. Someone answered they have 2 custards they vape more than any other and listed the following:

1: 10% Cap VC1, 1% Ethyl Maltol (10%), 0.5% TPA Sweetener. 2 week steep minimum (better at 30d).

2: 2.5% INW Custard, 1.5% INW Shisha Vanilla, 0.5% Cap Super Sweet. 1-2 Week steep minimum.

I also tried many of the released public custard recipes here and on ATF, and I liked a few of them, but unfortunately too many of them use some type of bakery within, and that doesn’t work for me. Three that really stick out and must be mentioned are:

  1. Ediblemalfunction - Custard Now

  2. Silky - Malted Vanilla Custard

  3. Silky - King Bling (Vanilla Custard)

So those are my favorites. What are yours??? I’m really looking forward to everyone’s replies! And please feel free to post your own creations.

Obviously going to be my own recipe.

Followed a close second by my take on a standard tinned custard.

Favourite ingredient by a country mile is FA Custard Premium.

Mine too!!! It’s so crazy that it’s not used much in public recipes. To me, it tastes better than ANY other “custard” flavor. I really wish there were more recipes using it.

I’ll take a look at your recipes. I definitely need a new custard and don’t remember trying yours, so I’ll mix one or both asap.

Can you just tell me what exactly a tinned custard is? I’m pretty sure that doesn’t exist where I live.

I’m really surprised this thread didn’t get more replies. I remember so many people on this forum being custard vapers. But I guess they want to keep all that buttery vanilla goodness to themselves. :unamused:

So quite literally a custard in a can. Is it good?

I mixed up 40ml of your VCv3. Will report back after steep, but first taste is really promising. I don’t have the CCW cream so I used 1% VTA Sweet Cream. I’ve never seen Custard Premium used so high, but followed your recipe exactly. I have a feeling it’ll be good.

I’ve also been looking for a good recipe using Legendary Custard, so I’ll probably try your tinned custard recipe too.

This has been my fave for several years now. It’s my ADV.

Will check this one out, but need to get 2 flavors, so it’ll have to wait til next month.

I use 3.5% Vanilla Custard V1 and 3.5% Vanilla Custard V2 instead. I like this better.

May I ask why? I heard from many sources that those two do not play nice together.

I’ve had really good luck pairing them @IggyZ. They support each other.

The V2 gives it a unique flavor that I like. It is supposed to be a little safer also. I would be okay with all V1, but I just like the two mixed. It’s okay to call me weird, lol. YMMV.

Or you could pair TPA VC II, and FA Custard Premium …

CAP VCv1 at 10% solo
Inw custard and FA Custard Premium at 3.5% each.

Depends entirely upon whether you prefer a “pudding” style custard or an authentic eggy custard…

Curious how it turned out with the sub?
TBH im a huge fan of CCW Cream with its profile being quite different from most other creams.
Im guessing you didnt find the recipe that good with the sub or im sure you would have reported back?
