What playing card games do you know?

In Greenland a very amusing game called “Vorms” is played. It’s a bit hard to describe and explain the rules to, but this one is close enough:

It’s based on Karnöffel:

I’m strictly a tournament poker player. If I didn’t have a positive ROI I wouldn’t do it.

Worst hand win’s isn’t really a weird one. Lowball is pretty common. Used to play a lot of lowball tourny’s.

I used to play a game called asshole in college. The idea is to see who gets shitfaced drunk first. There was the president vice president and asshole. It’s like fun rummy.
The president and VP can make up rules and the asshole has to do whatever they say. But each hand those three positions could change based on first second and last place.

I was playing in about 2 to 4 euchre tournaments a week before this mess started happening. Just hoping the older players are still around when we get out of this.

We play Uno, but with a normal deck of cards. If you are 4 people playing you quickly run out of cards, we use 2 decks, a red and blue Bicycle deck so that you can easily sort the decks out afterwards.

Ace = pick up 5
2 = pickup 2
8 = skip next player
Joker = swap direction and pick colour of deck
Jack = pick colour of deck

And a Jack and a Joker may be played on any colour.

Nice, quick, and easy, especially if the kids play along.

Well, this isn’t a traditional card game and you’ll have to buy it but it’s called Cards Against Humanity (A party game for horrible people). I just found out it’s available online free. No children should be present. I know, I’ve played it.

You can play Cards Against Humanity online with your friends for ...

Since I was a kid I used to play different card games with my father and we knew a lot of games. Now I play cards with my kids and I feel very nostalgic about this thing. So let me tell you about card games that I know because there are diffefrent types of games for different categories of people, for example: with my friends we play blackjack, poker, russian durak, crazy eights and others ( I can’t remember everything). When we meet with families we can play trick taking game, war or kings in the corner. Finally with my kids, of course we play UNO, rummy, go fish or one card, it develops their minds and I am very happy to see them how good thinkers they are.Besides that, as a gambler I used to play online casino at night, if you play some music on your PC and play it can relax you very much and helps you to wash away a possible bad day.

When I was younger I played a card game called forty-fives with an elderly gentleman who lived down the road from me,and my neighborhood friends.He use to love the company and as a youngster I really had fun playing it.Its pretty easy to learn and great fun with 4 or more people played as teams or single.Im sure a quick Google search would get the rules.

Online poker plays considerably faster than live poker, and some who prefer playing online find the live game too tedious to tolerate. I like online gambling. I play a lot right now via online casino due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Lots of variants of Go: Korean standard and many Taizhou variants. Lot of traditional Tarot games (yes it is playable deck) and strip snap.

Big poker fanatic here…holdem, pot limit Omaha, short deck, razz, 5 card plo, etc. Before covid went to a local 2/5 game and sometimes 5/10. Went to Vegas quite a bit. Now play home games several times a week with buddies on donkhouse.com.

I used to Play Holdem on Pokerstars pretty religiously, even took first in 1500 man tournament for 400 bucks once but since lockdowns a lot of players are on there that just throw cards around and it’s been more of a game of variance than strategy and I stopped playing because it’s not fun when half the table is shoving hands non stop.

I play Magic, while not the paper kind because that’s an investment, I grind Free to play on Magic The Gathering Arena and rather enjoy it

Growing up in the Bavarian Hinterlands you are exposed to this kind of playing cards:

The most popular game is Schafkopf which mens sheep’s head. But there are plenty, from fun beer games to dead serious tournaments.
We played every lunch break and whole evenings, I saw friendships shatter over a wrong choice of card. In general a very serious business in Bavaria.

Though I no longer remember how to play Sheepshead, it seemed to be the state card game Wisconsin when I went to UW-Madison. I remember it being fun (however, I was drunk and/or stoned much of the time) and could be played with anywhere from 2 to about 6 folks. You’ve piqued my interest and I may have to look Sheepshead up to see if my memory can be jogged.
