Goodbye Tom. Tom Petty was never an awesome musician or more than a mediocre singer, but his style and swagger were enough. His tunes were easy to sing along to, and the simplicity of his music was probably a lot of his mass appeal. In my mind, Petty holds a special place in the annals of the rock genre and will for all time.
