What's with Pod Systems logevity?

I bought an Xros Pod system plus 4 pods a while ago to experiment. Kinda liked it for pocket use, but when I went back for more pods they were sold out everywhere. Today I got a Black Friday email from MistHub, so I poked around their Pod systems and noticed a pattern. Tell me if I’m wrong.

It seems the major brands are cranking out pod systems like mad, but they are all short lived. I suspect they make an initial batch and then quit, moving on to the next generation. As each batch sells out, replacement pods disappear from the market. At MistHub I looked at 8 name brand Pods. Every one was sold out in the primary “neutral” colors (black, gray), leaving only the ugly pinks and greens nobody buys. And the replacement pods were sold out in the “sweet spot” resistance (0.8 to 1.0 ohms), leaving only the extreme 0.2 and 1.2 ohms.

So if you buy a Pod system ($20 to $40), 4 to 6 months later you can’t find new pods, making the system trash?

Yes essentially that is the Vape mod market in a nutshell. Most companies produce mods/pods in carefully selected amounts. Some have proprietary coils/pods which that yes when they sell out that’s it. The pod mod is now trash. unless of course you can find compatible coils by another manufacturer. Other companies like Aspire, and Smok have had the same coils (nautilus) (Nord coils) available for a long time. And their new systems use those same older coils. Other options are to buy RBA coils for use with pod units which can be rebuilt rather than having to find replacement coils once they are out of stock.

It really isn’t that huge of a problem because what’s the other option? Buying a disposable pod for $30-40 that lasts a month or two max. Then drop another 30-40 for another.

This is why my wife and I stuck with the Novo series. Most of them use the same pods, as @McDuckie mentioned. If i wanted i could use Novo 1 coils in my new Novo Pro or Master and vice versa. Honestly tho, despite having a crapton of N1&2 coils i dont use them, they leak like crazy.

Trick is find something you like and quickly buy coils, ALL OF THEM, hehe.

That’s why I went to a mod with RTAs. We were buying disposables and they too can start to get pretty expensive, and it’s such a waste of resources, to throw the whole thing away just because it ran out of juice. Pods are somewhere in the middle, but then you are still commited to buying the manufacturers coils. A mod and RTA are a little pricey initially , but after that, it’s very economical to vape, especially if you DIY your juice.
