Just taking a moment to thank the USPS and the folks that bring us happiness!
Wonderful article Jim. I think as Americans (and other advanced nations) we tend to take luxuries like our infrastructure for granted. I’ve been a bit dismayed about all the bitching folks do about the USPS. I’ve read people say this is the worst year yet for Christmas deliveries. How asinine. This has been THE BEST year in my memory. And the PO is actually delivering for other package services this year, rather seamlessly. With the sheer amount of package volume the odds increase for a delayed or lost package. But when you consider the amount of success and timely deliveries they’re pulling off, it’s actually quite impressive. I would have folks’ packages all over the place.
Thanks for posting this bud. I think it was a great way to put things into perspective.
definitely puts a different view on things. But as a glass artist that used to use USPS to ship fragile glass items I will keep my opinions to myself lol
Fro the most part it’s all about the packaging. But packaging glass well for transport only protects it so far as proper handling is concerned. I used to arrange air transport of glass used in windows and doors of x-ray rooms. Also for gears and cogs used in x-ray and CT scan machines. I used FedEx for this. I had to learn to do these as a dual shipment whenever their Memphis terminal was a waypoint. Those buffoons there were the absolute worst at MEM and you could almost count on a certain percentage of shipments that would be on their docks to be damaged. It’s all about people really and I think the USPS has improved drastically.
i’ve had things shipped in pelican cases end up broken But in general they do provide a service that is relatively inexpensive and efficient and often gets taken for granted. I just choose not to use them for glass anymore
As far as the service as a whole is concerned, I have nothing but praise. I’ve been getting my packages unbelievably fast. Faster than I ever remember at this time of year. Now, my mailman is another story. He’s a complete and utter moron.
My mailman came twice on Christmas eve! Both times was vape mail. I wanted to give him a great big hug, but that would have been a little weird for both of us.
