Windows 10 upgrade

Have to agree. One of the best product accomplishments in Microsofts portfolio. I enjoy xCode as well. I’ll give credit to Microsoft for setting a high bar with the VS framework though.

I do really like Windows 10. But I’ve had a suspicion for a while and now can confirm. Windows has some way to “force” you to update. Well at least if you have automatic updating set. When it downloads updates and they aren’t applied, Windows will barely run. It will be so slow and damn near unresponsive that you will reboot - and that’s when you’ll see updates are ready to install. It’s happened too many times to not be the case. Kinda bullshit if you ask me.

I use Never 10 on some of my work computers that I really don’t want to update. Works pretty good.

Thanks @Pro_Vapes this thread helped out. We’re going to buy an additional computer for school and couldn’t figure which to get.

Don’t upgrade to win10 it has issues with hardware compatibility, especially with older machines, lack of drivers make your hardware use Microsofts own.

To remove the annoying update:

Go to settings - Add/remove programs
Click show Windows updates
Look for KB3035583
Uninstall
Now before you shutdown your machine check for updates
If it’s there, hide it

I had a few early driver issues last year but all were updated and to me Windows 10 is slick as greased owl poop. No different from when XP, Vista (yuck!) 7 and 8 were all new…same story. Sorry you’ve had trouble.

But the machine does make a lot of difference. Picked up a laptop the other day. HP Spectre X360. I was actually going to finally get a Macbook but when I compared the two it was easy to spend $1000 less. Came with the i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and the cleanest version of Windows I’ve ever had from any store bought PC. None of that free trial crap HP is known for except for McAfee which was also cleanly uninstalled. If anyone wants a lot of bang for the buck this is a good one. Also this is the first touch screen I’ve had on a PC and I’m really staring to love it. So much faster than the touchpad alone.

Don’t get me wrong Windows 10 is a great OS and I’m sure on the newer machines it runs great, for me though, win7 ultimate will have to be my go to.
