Actually, it was an afterthought when I took mine apart. A case of woulda, coulda, shoulda. Never actually did it. I think 20g stranded should be OK. Make sure there are no scorch marks on the board or you could have a fried component.

I believe recommended is lower like 14-16 but the jacket is thinner to make the bends easier.

Can I just replace the damaged red wire? Or do I have to change the black wire as well?
