I have FAH set to run at full when I’m working. Any ideas why my points per day have recently decreased from small to smaller, about half to two-thirds what I was seeing? If anything, I’ve lately been placing fewer work demands on my computer than usual.

I’ll check you in EOC @NoFumus, but I’ve had many ups and downs, as it depends on the work units they are assigning. If you open your FAH client, do you know what GPU (video card), and CPU you are using ??

I don’t even recall what my computer is. I’d have to crawl under my desk with a flashlight to figure it out.

Hehe, no need for that @nofumus, looks like you’re folding with an i3 CPU. I didn’t know if you were folding with both a CPU and GPU or not. Have you recently made any changes to the computer, or to the FAH Client ?

Nope, nothing different other than turning it off so I could bring it to my father’s house when I was staying there. But, a couple hours ago it was showing a points per day twice what it was yesterday, and now it looks a little lower than that but in line with what I’m used to seeing. So, I conclude that it just goes up and down sometimes irrespective of anything I do.

Well I did setup a PC to join this crew, but it seems to be stuck. Both CPU and GPU slots show as available (nothing special, AMD Ryzen 3600x + RX470), but no work is downloaded, been like that for a week now. Have set it to any work, and I’m not new at the folding game ( https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/28025 ) but yeah, seems I am not getting assigned any work whatsoever.
Ah well, back to mining for that PC till I work it out!

Looks like it did actually finally do 1 WU, so will leave it active for now.

Thanks for getting on board @yodaofborg, you should be getting WU’s assigned, and that is odd. Are you able to copy/paste any of the log so we can see what might be up ?

It seems to be folding right after I posted this, if I hit anymore snags I will indeed paste my log here (although looking at it, it is just idling waiting for work).
Heh, typical, but at least the CPU is folding as I type this, so we will see what happens I guess

@yodaofborg looks like the 470 should be getting WU’s, are both your GPU and CPU both folding ?

Yeah, the GPU picked up a WU last night too, but then the PC froze, and now it is sat idle again on restart so I’m guessing I found the problem (they do penalise people for sending bad work). Eh, it is an older card, and it has been abused. I’ve got an r9 fury somewhere, will plonk that in and see if it helps. F@H is sure a great way to test your HW if nothing else

@yodaofborg if the work unit is bad, they just don’t assign any credit for it. If you continue to have problems, post or PM me your log from the Advanced window and I can help you sort it out.
