Mixing is definitely harder than I thought. I have been playing around for about a month. My juices are slowly getting better. I have three I am working on right now. A candy, a fruit, and a bakery. One is blue raspberry. Had a bit of lemon flavor left in my tank and dripped the BR in and the leftover lemon make the berries really pop. Finally a surprise that was good.

Hi!
Iā€™m sure new to DIY - been at it a couple of weeks. I mostly check out YOUR recipes lol! I have indeed tweaked a few - I actually invented one myself. My best friend, ah, compared it to something from the litter box! Back to square one lolol

Iā€™m in Nashville, making mistake after mistake and having a total blast doing it! Have a million questionsā€¦ must explore!

To all who have just arrived, welcome.

Iā€™ve been here a few weeks and from day one I felt as if I could ask anything. I was even so nervous that I posted, and the support I received wasā€¦ pretty epic tbh

You donā€™t even need to close your eyes, just jump right in!

Hello, I have been mixing it up for about four years now, and this is the first time Iā€™ve formally introduced myself. Iā€™m 55 yo, I was a pack a day smoker for 30 years, I now have COPD and am on oxygen 24/7 thanks to those damned cigarettes! That all changed when I discovered vaping. Like many of you, I started with an e-liquid at 2.4% nicotine. The first device I used was an eGo kit with 2 batteries, not much vapor but enough to get me off tobacco cigarettes. I followed the trends and changes in vaping technology and now have a good sized collection of mods, RDAs, tanks, sub ohm tanks, and of course a fairly large selection of flavorings for my own e-liquid. I found the Holy Grail of DIY when I found this site, a true wealth of knowledge full of helpful information, resources and great recipes! Without ELR I wouldnā€™t have been able to create nearly the quality of juice that I am able to make, so yesā€¦ Hereā€™s a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to this site. Iā€™m very grateful to have found such a great community of like minded people!

Hi, I have been lurking around for a few days and thought that it was about time that I introduced myself. New to the DIY scene and think that I may be a little late to the party with the TPD coming in shortly.
Iā€™m in the UK and vaping has got me off the cigarettes for just over a month now and already down to 3mg.
Think I may be classed as a cloud chaser lol as I do like a lot of vapour
Have already ordered some nic from darkstar after reading a few posts.
Hope to be creating shortly and trying some recepies out for the first time.
Iā€™m currently using a smok alien 220 with baby beast and the rba coil on the way for it.
Hereā€™s to some happy times ahead.

Hey guys,

Iā€™ve just started out with DIY and thought Iā€™d say hello!

Been vaping for a few years and now with the TPD in Britain kicking off it just made sense to take the plunge and have a crack at DIY. Thereā€™s a group of us whoā€™ve split the cost - I did some research and watched endless YouTube videos and finally felt I knew enough to put an order together - got the PG, VG, VG nic and flavours from Darkstar Vapour and got syringes, bottles and gloves off Amazon.

We had a ā€˜Vape Labā€™ (haha) on Saturday night, ordered some take away and put our heads together making a few liquids - it didnā€™t take long to start getting the hang of things and it wasnā€™t long before we had a our first flavour - a basic 15% FW Blueberry 70:30 mix. We didnā€™t have an RDA / dripper (which is now definitely on the buy list) so we just used a fresh T8 coil in the Baby Beast tank. Itā€™d only had a few minutes worth of shaking and sat for 10 minutes but we couldnā€™t wait and decided to give it a blast.

I think we were all expecting to the first attempts to produce some horrible results but all of us had a big grin when we tried it - and this was without steeping or using that cool Norpro Cordless Mini Mixer (which is now ordered - coming from the US though so itā€™s a 3 week wait!).

After a few hours between the 3 of us we had 3 x 30ml bottles each - Lemon Custard, Strawberry Cheesecake and Blueberry Menthol - and a tester of a Black Cherry, Blueberry and Menthol (which turned out awesome!).

A few things weā€™ve learnt:

Digital 0.00 precision scales arrive tonight - after all the faffing around with different sized syringes it instantly became apparent how much easier itā€™d be to have squirty bottles and just use the scaleā€™s reset button between each component - should massively speed things up.

Weā€™d read all about nicotine and being safe - we used gloves throughout and kept referring to it as ā€˜deathā€™ throughout the session haha - but weā€™ll always respect safety when dealing with nicotine.

Labels - we need labels. I knew this before weā€™d started but somehow forgot - and after using different styles of insulation type (one of the group is a plumber) to mark up which syringes were for which component (vg, flavours, nicotine etc) and using the tape to indicate flavours - we knew weā€™d messed up not having labelsā€¦ So theyā€™ll be in scope next session.

Pen and paper. Despite all the vids and posts about remembering to have a notepad for the recipes - we didnā€™t - and we ended up making some great tasting first mixes. Iā€™ve remembered them, luckily, as theyā€™re fairly simple but Iā€™ll be writing them up soon but next time weā€™ll be writing them up as soon as theyā€™re made, or even before.

Shaking is a PITA - weā€™d finish a 30ml bottle and then have to sit there shaking it and it never felt like weā€™d mixed it up enough - so weā€™ve ordered the Norpro Cordless Mini Mixer and it canā€™t come soon enough - itā€™ll save a lot of time and effort.

Flavours. We need more flavours! Weā€™ve actually got 10 to start out with, so itā€™s not too bad and definitely a good starting point - but weā€™ve identified a few top rated recipes on here and we want to get the flavours bought so an order will be going in at weekend. Weā€™ve started out with: Blue Raspberry (FA), Lemon (FA) Blueberry (FW), Sweetener (FA), Cheesecake (FW), Menthol (Dark Arts), Dulce de Leche Caramel (FA), Vanilla Custard (FA), Black Cherry (FA), Strawberry Shortcake (FW).

So, weā€™ve done it - our first home made liquids on the table!

We all enjoyed it - itā€™s creative, incredibly cost effective and we had some great results. All of us asked that if weā€™ve had success on the first liquids - what are the ones going to be like once we start to understand ratios and some tricks of the trade (EM, sweeteners, Koolada etc) and get some of the key ingredients people rave about (Graham Cracker) boughtā€¦

Massive thanks to the creator(s) of this site - great little resource and weā€™ve found it really useful to get an idea of the ratios and flavour pairings. The forum was also invaluable in getting a grip on what a beginner needs to get started.

Hope to be posting on here more often and weā€™ll stick our recipes up as soon as

Mike

Ahh nice one - didnā€™t see that (I was looking, clearly didnā€™t look hard enough!).

Thanks.

EDIT: Am I best just waiting for an admin to sort this out? Shall I copy the contents in to that thread and delete this - or copy and leave this?
