April 2026 Mix‑Along – The Cheesecake Assignment

Welcome to the April Mix‑Along! This month we’re diving into one of the most beloved (and most argued‑about) profiles in DIY mixing:
Cheesecake — Stone or Full Recipe — Mixer’s Choice.

Whether you love it dense and baked, light and whipped, tangy NY‑style, or buried under fruit and crumble, cheesecake is one of those foundations that teaches you a lot about balance, texture, and layering. So for April, you get to choose your path:

Create either:

A Cheesecake Base / Stone
A reusable foundation that captures your ideal cheesecake body, ready to drop into future mixes.

OR

A Full Cheesecake Recipe
Any style, any toppings, any theme — as long as cheesecake is the star.

Guidelines:

Any cheesecake direction is fair game: NY‑style, no‑bake, whipped, ricotta, sour‑cream heavy, crust‑forward, fruit‑topped, chocolate‑swirled, cereal‑crusted… go wild.

Stones should be designed as stand‑alone bases (no toppings required).

Recipes can include whatever toppings or accents you want.

:arrow_right: Include your steep expectations, and any notes, like how you approached texture, tang, crust, or sweetness.

Recipe titles must have the hashtag #ELR/Cheesecake26

Comment and link your public recipe below, every participant gets one chance at a single Grand Prize, winner will be chosen at random at the end of month and awarded $50 usd Cash (or Gift Card of choice).

Need Inspiration?

Think about:

How you build the body (dense vs fluffy)

How much tang you want (if any)

Whether your crust is graham, cookie, buttery, or bare

How sweet vs savory you want the base

What toppings or swirls define your “signature” cheesecake

As Always,
Post your creations, share your thoughts, and feel free to riff on each other’s ideas. The Mix‑Along is open to all skill levels. It’s all about learning, experimenting, and having fun with flavors.

Let’s build some decadent cheesecake magic this month.

:dart: Operation Cheesecake is live! Mix accordingly…

That’s A LOT of flavor.

Yeah most of my recipes have multiple ingredients and very complex flavors. But most are tried and tested by me before posting and they are delicious if used with the right setup. They blow any commercial juice out of the water.
I do have a public “2-ingredient series” for beginners and those who prefer simple recipes.
That being said, I have tried to reduce my ingredients to stay within the 4-9 ingredient range. I’m still learning as I’ve only been doing DIY for less than a year.

That’s cool! As long as it works for you. I know a guy who vapes a single flavor of JF RY4 Double all by itself. I once thought it strange but he loves it. So I thought to myself who am I to judge.

My first year i over creamed everything and stacked flavors very similar to how you do. Over the years i have learned less is more. I can achieve a better recipewith 4 to 7 flavors. Alot of.your off notes , muting aka over flavoring comes from too many flavors, those flavor share similar and or same compounds which can mute , turn soapy etc etc when over used. We all keep learning so cant wait to see how you evolve.

That’s really good advice because I was similarly guilty of stacking multiple flavours. Took me far too long to realise that you can achieve better results with fewer.
Use good ingredients and let the flavours speak for themselves. If someone had told me this when I first started mixing I would have been a massive help.

I’m just the opposite. I try to get away with as little flavors as I can. Call me lazy but I’m thinking ahead for when I like a recipe and know I’m going to keep mixing it for awhile.

Interestingly enough, some of the bangers out there are mixed with few but carefully chosen flavors. I’ve been mixing a 2 flavor recipe by Rocky for a year now. I’m still not tired of it and it’s a very flavor packed recipe. This is what I aspire to, knowing the flavors that well that I already know what to pick.

Yes I second that!! You could get rid of pancake, waffles are better than pancakes they have abs.

Which one Rocky has a lot of really good 2 flavor bangers. Like One stop, Black Russian, BLD.
