Artsy Farty Thread

@Mikser’s teeny tiny cooking videos reminded me to work on teeny tiny versions of works I made in the past. So gently working on midtones prior to breaking my eyes.

I’m going to need some custom brushes: 000 W&N and Artis Opus will reach their limits.

Thanks. That’s just the early stages: I think I may go on a rampage by the time I add jacquard patterns on the dress and bow.

Beautifully expressive. I look forward to seeing you combine it with other techniques.

I’m about to settle down to test a few of the recent contrast/speedpaint/xpress paints.

This evening is focused on Grim Black from Army Painter.

I have avoided them due to their reputation of poor blends with overly large pigments but, this bottle has scored many points even before I break the seal: It is a paint which has an agitator as standard!

For those who don’t rely on paints, varnishes, or volatile liquids et al on a regular basis, an agitator is a ball, usually metal or glass, which helps to homogenise the contents.

Most companies do not include them as standard: Green Stuff World being the exception. So, trying out a new potential tool feels much more relaxing with having a reliable viscosity.

You had me @ “grim” black.

I am tempted to create a Rob Zombie themed work after seeing yours.

The prepped canvas for my own Captain Spaulding themed work. I always try to get permissions - even when I do not need to. Although I think that @Mark_Turner engaging in a conversation with me is less likely as a stoat fucking a slug.

Oh, this is a work without a client or buyer, so I am happy to give it away to anyone who raises funds for those in need.

The primed surface.

I roughed up the surface with a nail file and then primed with a mix of Vallejo 73.6 and their 72:155 (Extra Opaque Heavy Charcoal).

I also straightened the edges and added an identifying mark.

The back. it looks simple but it's a custom ink applied using my heretical left hand.
