Aussie Bushfire Appeal

Well I will carry it with me to the end of time.

Many years ago, when the GST was being introduced, we were offered:
Labour Party - GST
Liberal Party - Tax Reform ”never ever GST”

Well, I was young but I believed in the Tax Reform idea - didn’t agree with GST.
So I voted Liberal and they brought in the GST anyway.
I have never and will never vote for a major political party in my life.

I believed then and still do that you cannot criticise your government if you don’t vote - but they have all become s bunch of self-serving bunch of wankers.

This is just another reason not to vote for any major party.
(Rant over)

I never follow party lines and look for a decent independent but they are for sale too. Last election the sitting liberal was voted out and an independent was voted in and now due to some back room deal she just votes with the liberals every time obviously her electorate wanted change and she just shit on everyone .

Same old, same old…

We are damned if we do and damned if we don’t
Our votes don’t really count here anyway, our electorate is die-hard Liberal and has been for 12+ years…

Just as a side note @Sevencasper – do you and any other Aussies watch the “CEC Report” on Community TV (Ch 44 over here in WA) by any chance? They have some interesting angles when it comes to politics and so on. Monday this week they were discussing the bush fires situation and well, they’re not everyone’s “cup of tea” but they definitely make you think. Just sayin’ . Cheers…

That’s good. Also, I was able to find quite a few on google images.

Has there been any rain at all recently?

I recently piffed some juice to an ecf member and he wanted to pay me $5 for shipping. I directed him to the bushfire thread and told him to contribute the money to a higher cause :+1: Teehee, I didn’t realize I had some promoting skills.

I don’t like the looks of that at all. It has the perimeter of the entire country. I did not realize this.

I had to stop about half way through because I was afraid of seeing more animals suffering but THIS!!! I did hear about your PM’s vacay to Hawaii on NPR. That sorry ass, SOB, mofo excuse for a human being is just like the rest of 'em. They all HAVE to go! It gave me great pleasure to see that fireman pull his hand away. And that sorry excuse, coward of a man making excuses for him? WTF? Get a spine and tell the truth.

I’m sick sick sick of our so called leaders. The whole lot of them. Problem is, even if a sniper could pick them all off they would quickly be replaced by another f**kwad. WE have to find another way or we’re all doomed. We can NOT be the pack of rats following the Pied Piper anymore. We the people need to create a plan somehow.

We must never get used to it. Do you know that our Supreme Court has turned a blind eye towards political corruption? Follow the Bridgegate case. You know, the Chris Christie f**k up?

Same shit is happening here with our farmers and the Trump Trade War. We keep hearing about how much Trump is giving the farmers (and the payout IS huge but guess what? It’s not going to the farmers who need it, it’s going to the huge corporate farm industry. Any farm smaller than that and on privately owned land (not government leased) is getting squat. I don’t claim to be an expert on this subject but heard an interview with a farmer.

Is it possible for these firefighters to start a civil suit action and sue not only for the loss of income and property but for physical and emotional damages? They are the ones who saw the worst of it. They are the ones who sacrificed their well-being in ways no one else could understand.

I just googled GST and couldn’t finish reading about it. I’m not politically savvy or understand taxes well but I know this…simple is good. Our leaders purposely create confusing laws, taxes, regulations et al for the sole purpose of pulling the wool over our eyes.

Pretty sure any suit would fail because they are classed as volunteers

I have never heard of that show.
Will have to see if it’s online somewhere.
My sister posted a fb link a few days ago to a fellow who was telling what is “actually” going v’s the media reports on re the army’s involvement etc.
I didn’t see the whole thing, I’ll have to look that up too!!

I’m not big on watching the “news” too sensationalistic - just makes me mad or anxious or both

A little, enough to dampen the ground here in SA, showers not rain & only one night in the last week.
Not sure about the other states …

Good job :+1:

I see. So these most courageous, selfless Australians sacrificed their lives for a government who will do nothing to compensate them? Where would the government be without these volunteers if there aren’t enough paid firefighters to handle the job? There’s got to be an angle in there somewhere. Wish I were a lawyer. I’d come up with something, dang it!

I feel the same way. I drive for a living and listen to public radio all day. Not sure if they offer much more information but at least there’s no sensationalism.

Oh my God, oh my God!!! I know this may sound weird to you but my Buddhist friends and I have been chanting for rain. Is it true? Is the rain really coming? Honestly, I wasn’t sure if my own faith was strong enough to pray for rain and, of course, I have no proof that my prayers did anything but I’d like to think so. I’m just happy for rain. I had to search this song for you and when I played it I fell to tears. For you, Australia, and every single living being in your land…
