Australia and vaping

What a load of garbage. What makes these retards think we’ll believe this? Surely the masses aren’t that gullible are they? Oh hang on, yes they are.

I’d really like to see this “strong and consistent” evidence if that’s OK with you guys. Maybe then it could explain why young Australians would “willingly” pay $40.00 for a pack of cigarettes that WILL NOT taste like fruit or custard or sweet candy. Why the hell would they do that? What’s the incentive for them to do this?

“Yeah, I really love eating a Big Mac, fries and a coke but you know what? I might just pay twice as much money and eat sticks and leaves instead.”

Well said in your last post @Gazza7 :+1:

Well, they’re not trying to convince us (vapers). They’re trying to convince the sheeple, which is why all this BS is so infuriating to us.

Mark Butler says Big tobacco has addicted a new generation but the pharma vapes will be owned by big tobacco companies like vuse juul veev. Also companies like liber wild have former big tobacco executives. It was code for big tobacco will only sell vapes in Australia

For those who are interested, this is the most recent info on the state of vaping in Aus. From the horses mouth, so to speak.

https://www.health.gov.au/ministers/the-hon-mark-butler-mp/media/next-steps-on-vaping-reforms?language=en

From 1 January 2024, the Government will implement a ban on the importation of disposable single use vapes.

From 1 March 2024, further changes are expected to commence, including the:

- cessation of the personal importation of vapes
- ban on the importation of non-therapeutic vapes
** - requirement for therapeutic vape importers and manufacturers to notify the Therapeutic Goods Administration of their product’s compliance with the relevant product standards

- requirement for importers to obtain a licence and permit from the Australian Government’s Office of Drug Control before the products are imported.

Apart from illegal imports of disposables, Aussie Vapers rely on the personal importation scheme to import nicotine (with a prescription).

During 2024, product standards for therapeutic vapes will also be strengthened, including to limit flavours, reduce permissible nicotine concentrations and require pharmaceutical packaging. A transition period will be allowed for businesses to comply with the new requirements.

The Government will introduce legislation in 2024 to prevent domestic manufacture, advertisement, supply and commercial possession of non-therapeutic and disposable single use vapes to ensure comprehensive controls on vapes across all levels of the supply chain.

Quote from Butler:
“Vaping was sold to governments and communities around the world as a therapeutic product to help long-term smokers quit. It was not sold as a recreational product - especially not one targeted to our kids but that is what it has become.

Umm yes, because you announced that you were going to ban disposables in May 2023 then did nothing the enforce this, so the already established black market (since the prescription model was introduced by the previous government in 2021) has flourished!

Anyway, you get the idea. I have to stop, it makes me too angry.

It appears the new laws have been finalized and this is them.
I notice towards the bottom it states the government is not criminalising vapers. So by continuation I’m assuming a vaper can continue to vape in public but must have a prescription as long as all merchandise was bought before the ban dates?

I don’t know if anyone has heard but The Vaping Bogan is literally leaving Australia to live in the UK.
Obviously due to the imminent new crazy Australian laws.

Bloody typical of Australian Gov to do this. I remember when the Libs were in and went the prescription model and some vaping advocates said that Labor would be better as they didn’t have the same policies, well… that backfired.

What does all this mean for those of us that already vape and use rebuildables and make our own juice? I know we can’t get nic easily anymore, but I have enough of that. What about if I am walking down the street vaping? Can I get pulled over for that? The lack of information is just pathetic from the Gov in every aspect.

I am almost ashamed to be an Aussie, but then… it’s not an Aussie thing these wankers are doing!
