Moved the relevant posts from ‘What do you really hate II’ over to here for more visibility. Definitely deserves its’ own thread here in the Advocacy section! Man this stinks.

I keep hearing this kind of bad news from Australia. What’s going on there? Ruled by businesses?

Sorry, this may get long.

For those that are unaware of what a duplicitous lying POS Greg Hunt is - on the 18 Sept 2018, it was reported by The Guardian ( https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/sep/18/vaping-inquiry-coalition-agrees-to-study-health-effects-of-e-cigarettes ) that Hunt had agreed to have an independent inquiry into the health impacts of nicotine e-cigarettes. The report is due by December 2020 (he announced the inquiry in November 2018). He promised this to the Coalition Party Room. The budget of this independent inquiry is $750k and commenced in February 2019. ( https://www.athra.org.au/blog/2019/08/01/finally-information-about-the-scientific-inquiry-into-vaping-but-questions-remain/ )

Fast forward to 2020 and Hunt has broken his promise to his own party, circumvented any result the independent inquiry may have delivered by banning the import of nicotine 6 months prior to any finding. Not only has he done this he has bypassed the Senate and the House of Reps by going directly to the Gov General to get the regulations changed. Is this is what democracy means in Australia? ( https://www.odc.gov.au/news-media/news/australian-government-proposes-strengthening-its-stance-against-e-cigarettes )

The $750K of taxpayer money has essentially been thrown into the wind, the health of over 300,000 vapers and 2.6 million current smokers has been disregarded as being unimportant to our “Heath” Minister. Not to mention the livelihoods of all those people who either own vape related businesses or are employed by the vape industry in Australia.

For too long many of the Australian vapers have sat back with a she’ll be right mate attitude guess what she ain’t gunna be right. Every Australian vaper needs to get off their collective arse and makes some noise and a lot of it.

Contact your MP through the legalise vaping website and tell them what is happening and the effect it will have on YOU - boilerplate letters are fine but you will get a form letter back try to make it personal to you if you have the time.

Sign the petition and get your family members to sign

If and only if we organise and make enough noise will this ever get turned around - don’t sit on your hands. I have been banging on about how people need to advocate if they want to keep vaping for literally years - look at it as a chance to make those smokers who have not quit yet to have an easier time of it - as an aside to you being able to remain smoke-free.

We need all of you and we need all of you right now to pull your finger out and get busy.

@woftam I appreciate both the info, and the time you took to compile/write it up. I’m rather speechless as the “fuck it” 6 months early move, and am shaking my head. Sorry mate.

This is one of the biggest issues. Too much of this…the other bloke will fix it. Sheeell be right :rage:

Yet more than 10 000 bulk orders of nicotine at VE NZ over the weekend and now shut down to Aussies.

I’ll definitely be signing the petition! I can’t believe how quickly they are allowed to put the ban in place. Like most Aussies, I usually import my freebase nic from NZ. As of this morning, all NZ online stores have removed the option to ship both freebase nic and nic salts to Australia because they’ve either run out of stock or simply don’t have the manpower to fulfill any more orders and have them arrive by July 1st.

I’m going to put an order through either a US or Canadian store and hope it arrives it time :triumph:

If anyone can recommend somewhere to buy please let me know

Welcome shambles!

Same here.
Have you tied mixology vapes nz - I have used their nic with no probs… their site is still up.

I’m not sure who would be able to ship in time.
Paging: @marsh8 @bede1 @dardy @woftam @laurie would any of you guys have a better idea?

But you need to know this:
Bede is an Aussie too…

I doubt very much if anything would arrive from the US or Canada in time. I’ve had parcels just arrive that I ordered in April.

Every where that I could think of has now stopped shipping to Australia.

Thanks for that post above @woftam, you’re a legend! Only 2 things I haven’t done yet is write to that lying cow-pat Hunt and our illustrious PM. I’ll be doing that tomorrow morning as soon as I get into work at 5.30am. If only I had a Twitter account :astonished:. Actually makes me think of creating one to tell you the truth. Well done mate, appreciate the passion and the effort in getting the message out. Cheers. :love_you_gesture:
