The 3 clicks does bring up the menu, but the only way to lock/unlock it is to hold the + and - buttons simultaneously for a few seconds. I just put my tank back on the GV Solo, it is still reading AMP 0.00 and still nothing coming out when I take a puff.

I do have a 250 mH option, but I have it set at 500 mH based on your recommendation earlier from another thread???

Input 100-240V, 50-60 Hertz 0.5A
Output 9V=1.67A or 5V=2A
is what was printed on the outside of my charger. My one faulty channel now reads Err(or), so I just removed the battery from that one channel and it is empty for now.

Thank you for correcting me, @muth has the Gyrfalcon AII-44 bay charger. I just saw “Gyrfalcon” and remembered you saying that name.

I’m not familiar with a GV solo mod and it shouldn’t happen at 3 months but there’s a possibility that the 510 spring is collapsing. This has happened to me. And like @Lostmarbles said, tightening down too much can also cause problems (like collapsing the 510 spring). I assume it spring loaded, most mods are. The way to find out is pry up the 510 pin. Use a small screwdriver or anything that will do the trick. Screw on an atty again (not to tight) and see if you get a reading.

ETA: Oh, the Aegis Solo by Geekvape? Der, yes I have too many Aegis mods, lol. I would be very surprised if the 510 spring collapsed. But anything can happen. If that’s the case, I would contact the company. They’ll prolly replace the mod for you. I received an Aegis Max with a loose pull on the battery button. I asked for a replacement button and they sent me a whole new mod! Lol, I have 2 Max now. I put some putty underneath the pull and it stays in place until I’m ready to unscrew it again.

You assume right, fiddy.

@KC111 if you like to fiddle with things you might be able to fix it yourself but in all fairness they owe you and I would pursue the issue. After that you can decide to repair it and then you might have a second mod. The 510 plate is accessible if you have the right tools. Once it’s lifted you’ll be able to see better what’s going on. In some cases it’s better just to replace the entire 510 instead of trying to repair a spring or you can try fitting something underneath the pin to lift it from the bottom. I had to do that with a mod once and it works okay now.

Thank you Muth! I will give that a try in the morning when my caregiver arrives so I have have her unscrew those tiny screws. If I need to replace the entire 510, will you guide me on where to go get it?
I would return it except I got pretty much all my mods from Sourcemore, so I only have a 30 day warranty. I also have many mods still unopened in their boxes, so I imagine by the time I get around to opening them, the warranty would be long expired, so it is good that I am getting these hands on experience even though they aren’t MY hands, LOL.

500 mah’s are fine, and that is the default setting @KC111, no adjustments required.

The other mH settings were 1000, 2000 and 3000 mH, but you did say to put it in the lowest setting and that was 250 mH, but will leave it at 500 mH since it has your blessing :). The DUO order arrived today but I haven’t opened the box yet (too tired), so I will do the shower curtain test soon.

You still have a 90 day warranty thru GV. Contact Geekvape. They will ask for the serial number and a video of it not working.

I’m going to write about a few things from my last episode of “shopping for a charger”.

Right away, with no thought required, the decision was simple. Buy another charger just like my current charger. Wow, that was easy. Then I ran into the problem that my current charger, The hOhm base, is no longer in production and the shelves have already emptied of surplus.

So…

Things you might want to consider:

  • your current situation and that of the foreseeable near future
    • Will it be your first and only charger? Is it a replacement or a backup? Is it for home, office, travel, mistresses house, etc. .
    • What type of batteries and how many?
  • capabilities, or lack of capabilities (wants vs. needs)
  • availability (this affected me at the time)
  • cost, of course. For most of us.
  • Does it come with a power supply?
    • This is a hidden cost you should add to the purchase price if it doesn’t come with one. Extra shipping cost might be required too.
    • if not it’s up to you to get one that is the right output and capacity and plug type.
    • you might also have to supply a cable. The right kind. Don’t forget to add the cost to the purchase price
  • know bugs or problems from the communities reviews. Can you live with the known problems?

Those things, taken into account, should narrow down the form factor and decide if it needs all the bells and whistles.

For me the New charger will act as a backup to my current, so far trouble free charger that has been the workhorse for all of my batteries for several years now. It will also be available for those times that I need to charge a large number of batteries at once. I have a fair sized fleet of 18650’s, 21700’s, and some 14500’s I use on a regular basis.

I will not buy one that doesn’t come with its own power supply.

I have always felt it would be better to buy two four slot chargers than it would be to buy one eight bay charger. Doing that greatly reduces the chances that you can completely loose the ability to charge batteries in the event of a total charger failure. when considering this you also have to weight the cost of two four’s vs. one eight.

So I was already just looking at four bay chargers. I wanted the Xstar Dragon but I didn’t want to spend that much. I settled on a decision to buy the BT-3100 as SD and others pointed me to. The BT-3100 ticks all of the boxes for my needs. I messed up a perfect opportunity to get one at a great sale price. I waited for the next sale that never came about. Then when I decided to forget waiting for a sale, there was a supply shortage. The BT had been around and there are several versions, each having the same functions but upgraded firmware over time. The older versions had a few bugs that I wanted to avoid. During the supply problem there were some available but they were the older versions I wanted to stay away from.

Then my needs changed. I have more four battery mods and more new batteries. I found the Grey falcon all-88 and that is what I went with. I like it so far but I haven’t used it much. Even with more four battery mods my charging needs have not outpaced my main four bay charger.

I want to add that the Grey falcon all-88 charger has wide and long battery bay slots. Wider than any other charger I have found. The spring tension is just right. It’s very easy to get any type of batteries in and out without damage to you, the battery, or the charger.

@muth Be careful! You should include advice to remove the batteries before inserting screwdrivers into electrical connections. And to maybe only do so if there is someone around that can call 911 for you if needed. You get used to doing that in a regulated mod just turning off instead of removing the batteries. The next thing you know, you do that with a Mech mod with very bad results.

And a note to all regarding battery wraps. Be careful rewrapping batteries. The whole case of the battery is the negative(cathode), with only the center top button being the positive(anode). When you remove the old damaged wrap you expose way more negative surface than is normally exposed making it relatively easy to inadvertently short the positive to the negative resulting in a sudden, massive discharge. That is why the battery is wrapped in the first place, and why we need to replace old torn wraps.

The little paper or plastic washer that goes around the positive button is there to further separate the negative (case) from the positive button. The wrap is shrunk around the edges of the nonconductive washer ensuring that no negative surface is exposed anywhere near the positive.

I just checked my order history from Sourcemore. Order date was Jul 22, 2022 even though I just unboxed the package a few months ago. This is what I get for stocking up, I run the risk of being outside the warranty window.

I’m so glad I read your post first to remove the battery first before attempting to remove the 510 plate. I still haven’t done that yet.
I don’t curse too often anymore, but all I could think about while reading your post was “Shit, I’m in over my head!”

So right you are! I should never assume that everyone knows this. This is my blind spot, thinking that the other person already possesses that same knowledge.

Lol, you know how many times that’s happened to me on the Cold Steel? I be crying thinking it died
