Best smelling bakery flavors out of the bottle

Ok, just like the titles says. Out of the bakery flavors you use, which ones smell delicious straight from the bottle? I really need a good cookie and cake flavor to be a base. I realize everything needs steep, but I have trouble with a lot of flavors, and I’ve found the best ones I’ve liked all smell really good as an extract. Like bavarian cream, crunchy berry. They smell and taste awesome. I need a cake and cookie like that. CAPs I’ve tried were no good to me. Couldn’t taste cookie (biscotti) either.

Biscuit (INW) A true American type crisp biscuit, mix with Sugar Cookie (CAP). It’s a classic combo.

With Cakes it depends on what direction your recipe is headed. I like Pound Cake (FLV) for a dense cake heavy recipe. Yellow Cake (FW) for medium density cake flavor. Third cake would be Cake (White)(FW) for a light airy cake. Mixing two of these cakes also works well.

I have what looks like a full bottle of FW yellow cake that’s been sitting on my flavor rack since I first began mixing. Ill try to mix up a tester of it.

I actually wanna try lemon cake from INW. Sounds like it’d be really nice on its own.

What I’m looking for is just the smell. If it smells really nice right out of the flavor bottle. Kinda weird request, but yeah. Something like FW yellow cake smells like nothing much to me. It’s because the best juices I’ve made used flavors that smell really good.

I just went through all my flavors and gave them a smell test, I’ve had a tres leches for maybe 2 years. It did used to smell nice. When I smelled it, it smelled like something died inside the bottle.

None of the cakes are stand alone flavors. Wonder flavors Philadelphia Buttercake might come the closest but it’s still not a standalone. Some of the cheesecake’s can work as a standalone but I don’t consider them true cake’s.

Alright then. In that case I am going to avoid buying any cake flavors for now, thank you for your input.

I must say, Cap cookie crumble and SC Nomz biscuit (shortbread) smell amazing from the bottle.

Lemon Pound Cake (SSA) blew me away when I first smelled it from the bottle. I was certain I would just smell Lemon Pledge or something but NO, I got the pound cake and a nice soft lemon in the background. If you like Pound Cake this one is a winner :+1:

Edit: Many like this flavor as a solo.

I’m getting the INW lemon cake flavor this time. I’ll throw this one in a wishlist for future orders for sure though!

Yes, don’t pass this one up. Praised by too many mixers to not get this one. If it convinced me it must be good because I don’t do lemon as a general rule in diy.

I’m one of the people who gets Play Doh from that flavor. I use Yellow Cake (JF) instead.

Yeah, it’s one of the first flavors I got when I started diy. I was unlucky with all my choices. My whole mix bin is full of mostly supporting flavors I don’t like or can’t use. Now I’m just shooting for stand alone flavors I can keep at low % and add subtle flavors to.

Oh yes, the memories. When starting out I went nuts buying a bunch of flavors because they looked or sounded good. Many disappointments for sure. Check the notes pages and read reviews, watch the mixing channels on YT or just ask like you’re doing here. Of course, taste is subjective so that won’t always work. SFT is the only sure way of knowing for yourself.

I like FA Cookie
Also FA Nonnas Cake

They both smell good to me & I think they vape well too.

These are a couple of recipes I’ve had in my rotation for a few years….

These two I sub in any fruit to taste…

Thats interesting, I wonder if I lack smell/taste or am more sensitive to taste. I actually made an outdated very high % recipe for the hell of it to see if I could taste anything for Cap sugar cookie and didnt have enough so I dumped FA cookie the rest of the way. The mix smelled totally amazing but all I could taste was the way FA cookie smelled out of the bottle. Im not sure how to describe the flavor, but it wasn’t biscotti and wasn’t cookie. It was really bad but it wasn’t so bad that I had to dump it out. I actually finished most of it because I didn’t wanna waste it. It was very strong and bland.

Grab that and ssa lemon pound cake…ssa creme de La Creme…ssa whipped cream…:grimacing: I could go on. I grabbed Flv root beer, and 30 mls of TPA key lime pie, ssa creme de La Creme and 120 of super sweet lol. I tried to grab some of the new new SSA’s but they were out.

Ended up throwing cap cookie and SSA lemon pound cake onto my order. I’m very curious to see how all these flavors taste. Sometimes I don’t know how people go through so much flavoring. These tiny bottles seem to make me so much juice! I like variety.

  • Can’t wait to try INW creme brulee, and vanilla gelato, and lemon cake as stand alone.

  • I gotta test crumble topping by itself too.

  • gotta try milkshake alone to see how/if it will fit into root beer float, gelato, sweet crunch or crunchy berry.

  • gotta mix creme de la creme alone to see how/if it will compliment vanilla gelato and/or root beer float

  • Gonna try to remove Bavarian cream add meringue and a cream to crunchy berries.

  • Add lemon Sicily to my razzle berry mix to see what happens.

  • Add fuiji and lemon Sicily to my peach rings to see if it makes it less dry

  • have to test cap crumble cookie. I’m a little bit afraid of that one. I’ve had bad experiences with cap flavors.

From now on I’m really trying to keep recipes 4 ingredients or less, including sweetener at lowest percentages possible.

  • I’m gonna need more VG :skull_and_crossbones:
