Coil Building Show Offs (Part II)

I don’t get it…

It’s not that it’s stainless steel, it’s because twisted ribbon. I find SS316L wire to be less springy than kA1 when wrapping regular coils. I can make SS aliens all day with very little problems. Kanthal is harder to work with doing that sort of thing. It’s a bit more springy and rigid.

A lot of people like to make their SS coils blue or purple before they use them because it looks cool. I’ve never been into that. I don’t like to glow my coils much either. I watch YT reviewers and just about all of them glow the shit out of their coils. They’re black before ever even using them.

Good to know, as I’m loving the flavour I get from these, I may just be buying flat wire from now on (only got this wire originally as juice junky didn’t have any round SS in stock), as I’ve tried making a few kA1 round coils since, and although they’re much easier to set, the flavour is just nowhere.

I’m pretty new to this whole thing (nearly a year since I started vaping!), so making the coil purple was actually done while heating and pinching to get the coil to sit right without separating, but I agree that it looks cool

I was going to try soone flat wire in my last order, but thought it looked too thin to work with.

More surface area though I spose.

We call it ribbon wire here. I’ve seen it called flat wire too but it’s all the same think. They can come in different thickness and width. It’s measured in .1mm. Most of mine is only .1mm thick but different widths. I have .3, .4., & .5. I use it in different “framed staple” coils. Bending some it the tall ways in a stack is pretty difficult.

I do have one kind that’s a little thicker. I saw it at AVS and it’s .2 x.8 SS. I claptoned a piece of it with round wire and tried to make a coil out of it. It’s still all floppy, not very sturdy.

I also have some N80 .3x .3, and .4x.4 square wire.

I’ve seen others just wrap ribbon like a regular round wire coil. I’m not sure how it vapes myself. I’ve never tried it yet.

Ah yeah sure. I wasn’t trying to take a shot at you or anything. I just do things a bit differently than most people. Most people (on YouTube and in photos) seem to glow their coils hotter than I ever do so I’m in the minority.

Made some triple staggs today. Not sure if anyone call em that lol. They’re tri-core staggered fused claptons. N80 3x26+36, and 3x28+38.

I’ve never tried these before. I didn’t have any real trouble with them since I’ve been working exclusively on staggered wires recently. These will go a lot nicer once my nylon pliers shows up.

I installed one of the bigger ones from my photos into an Elder Dragon.

These are really flavorful coils. I can really taste the fruity aspects of my liquid well.

Went with smaller specs today. 3x29+40. I don’t have any 42ga but I image that’d be pretty difficult. 40ga had me squinting a lot lol.

I know it probably looks the same but smaller is a bit trickier.

That’s really nice work @INOIROC

Nicely done!! It isn’t easy to do that with such small wire. I forgot where you live. I say that because I have about 400’ of 44 gauge Nichrome 80 from Kidney Puncher. It’s all yours if you want it and if your in the states I could send it right on over.

Beautiful coils @INOIROC !!!

Thanks! I’ve been practicing. I wish my nylon pliers would escape the USPS black hole that is Florida lol. I’ve just been using a ceramic tweezer and it leaves lots of marks.

Wow, thank you for the offer. I’ve never used anything that high before. I’d be willing to trade you something for it. We can probably work something out. I’d definitely use it.

Thanks! I’ve been staggering away like a drunkin sailor lol. That’s not really a saying…?

That must be a pain to work with. I tried 38 and gave up. Kept snapping on me.

What is it with Florida? I have a shipment that has been sitting there over a week on its way to NZ

No idea. I have two packages coming from there. Both have been not doing much of anything for about 4 days. One time I had a package bounce back and forth from Miami to Okalaka (?) Florida about 6 times before they woke up and got a clue. Their postal workers must be over worked or something.
