I ordered one a couple of days ago . It made me think of the Pulse V2 and Elder Dragon. I’m guessing it’s gonna vape nice.

I remembered that Wire Optim offers bulk sizes for anything over 42ga. I’m talking real ā€œBulkā€, like over 20,000 feet. With their 40% off sale, I’m seriously considering getting one. It works out to $3.34 per 1,000 feet vs buying them full price $31.61 or sale price $18.97 for a 1,000 foot roll. 44 gauge doesn’t go very far on cores vs larger sizes (Way more revolutions to cover ground etc.) The only thing stopping me is: it looks like it comes on one big jumbo roll. Not sure if it’s manageable for my purposes or if the weight will cause problems… I think I could possibly re spool it on smaller rolls but don’t want to create snagging problems. I might just go for it though and figure out the rest later. Just take my sixty-seven bucks .

With all the patience and attendance to detail that you must have, I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

I got another Dead Rabbit Solo and thought this was a cool pic:

It’s a 5mm ID, N80 SFC: 7x34/44ga (Kinda gettin’ the hang of it :+1:) I left the outside core wires bare just to see how it’d look. Resistance= .55Ī©.

Here’s a couple more pics of the deck and coil:

Jumbo roll from Optim is on the way!

Dude… Your stuff looks AMAZING!! How’s the flavor kicking off that girl?!

These coils have been vaping really good. I forgot to shoot you a PM, but rest assured . I’ve been producing some samples the last couple of time that I had time to spin :+1:.

I purposely skipped any and all boroo devices. I have way too much stuff as is and heard it was or could be an expensive rabbit hole . Anyways, I kind of have an idea of what would work good in one of those little bridges or whatever they’re called. Most people probably want small/efficient coils that are fitting for tight-ish airflow. I’m all about efficiency but also after best flavor possible. I’ll get a hold of ya soon :call_me_hand:.

I got my jumbo roll from Wire Optim today. The size of the spool isn’t really a problem but the weight is. I tried it out and it doesn’t spin well in my hand. I can kind of twirl it as I go but it’s not ideal. I used a sharpie marker to hold it (Through the center) and that worked a little better. Might have to get used to that, oh well. I’m still pretty happy about the value they offer. Sixty seven bucks and I’m set for a probably a decade . That amount would’ve bought me around 3 x 1,000 foot rolls. This thing has over 20,000! Friggin awesome.

I put the other roll there for scale.

Update edit: I was able to rig up an empty spool and put about 1,00 feet on it. I could’ve kept going but figured I can do refills any time . It works way better holding a lighter spool.

Hey guys,

My buddy sent me a coil which he said he made, but it’s so crazy looking that I don’t believe him. He says it’s a Ni80 26x3/36 mirror alien.

Can anyone tell me exactly how this is made? Is it a standard alien wrap, but then hammered down flat? How is it so smooth? I have a feeling he ordered this from China just to mess with me, and when I ask him how he made it, his answer doesn’t make sense. He told me that he rolled the finished, claptoned wire through a spaghetti press. Is this possible?

As a person who dabbles in coil making, I find it implausible that every wrap can be done so perfectly by hand.

Edit: the taste and performance are incredible. This is definitely one of the tastiest coils I’ve ever tried. Ohms out at .23, and tastes best at 55-60w.

Yes, it’s possible, and he wouldn’t be the first.

It’s first made up then cut into 5"-6" lengths. It is then wet sanded.

It’s made similar to a regular alien. While wrapping it into a coil, you wrap it all the way so no legs are sticking out. Next, the rod is inserted into a drill for some high RPMs, and sanding. It’s kind of like polishing a mech mod with a polishing jig. It just spins fast while you get it to look super shiny…it’s up to the builder on how far they want to take it.

Edit: Just read the spaghetti press comment. I’ve never heard of doing that.

:call_me_hand: I’ve seen videos on those but have never done it myself.

When making aliens, you can do them super fast. You just hold the right tension and angle and fire the drill. When I made those all the time (My first year spinning), I’d occasionally do them as fast as my corded drill could go. It was absurdly fast and my drill got super loud lol. The fusing wire just sort of falls into place.

One of the keys to making good looking aliens is to make a perfect clapton for your de core. If you want all those waves looking uniform, you start by making a flawless clapton.

User badazd on reddit used a spaghetti press for years.

That’s what I used to use when I made them a few years back. Make a normal alien, run it through the press then wrap like normal. I really didn’t notice any difference when vaping them so I stopped doing it.

Yup. Spaghetti press works great for flattening claptons and making round wire flat.

I used to PM with him a bit at Reddit… He had a new years contest years ago and I won a big variety of his stuff. I know lots of people loved his stuff but I just couldn’t get into it. We all like different things etc. I sent them to a bud on VU I think. Badazd told me his press was some kind of professional grade or whatever. It costed him around $800 IIRC. He probably made that back and then some from sales.

He was a big believer in Surface area but also efficiency. After finding my favorite style of wire/coils, efficiency is something I’ve worked on too. Sometimes it’s fun to go big or go home but I usually use thinner SFC’s.
