They gave you 5 stars for one of your recipes! What’s disappointing about that?

I never had bad goals here. Just wanted to help and it cost 150 bucks for the year for hosting. It was simple and I didn’t predict getting private messages from strangers calling me a “douchebag” Because this wasn’t ever about the money to me, and I really didn’t feel great about the picture or view that was portrayed as our site and goals, I have ended the membership ideas. No special resources. No recipes for members. And I can’t help how that may dissapoint supporters, but is is now all I can offer you. Apologies to those that signed up but I am not out to be the new DIY Enemy of the People. I bow out of those goals. I’m a lover of the mix and to have people downstarring things I worked really hard on, has bugged me all day.

I’d rather you all see and respect my mixing skills over being hung up on a charge to keep the site going

All 11 members will get a refund. We will fund the site some other way that I will figure out some other time.

ITS ALL OPEN AND FREE NOW.

Ya know, I personally don’t understand why your not doing what ya want to do, but are instead quitting what you initially wished to do. I mean lets say I wanted to open a bbq business, I don’t necessary need to be a chef or a person that even likes bbq, I could open up a bbq joint just for the sake of wishing to attract those people that do like bbq.
Just because people dislike what they may be perceiving your goals are/were shouldn’t be a cause for you to quit… if it something you wanted to do.
The mind set I kept coming up with for what your were doing was/is basically like a bar (nightclub), some clubs have a cover charge, and some don’t, your setup was a club that did have a cover charge “shrugs”.
The only thing I personally disliked (and I think I voiced it before) was remarks of exclusivity, for me (again personally) it sounded as if non-members would be ostersized and at the same time members were basically to be envisioned as separatists from others.
Mostly I was just reading into want all the chatter was, and most likely all the defensive posturing going back and forth. It never is a pretty scene when laundry (both dirty or clean) moves away from one forum into another location. Everyone has their own opinions.

You are very articulate with your words. I admire that. I’d bet you are also a great lyricist whether you know it or not.

Wayne from DIY or DIE talks about this thread in this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MsqvpR9E0o video at 1.31.35 give or take. Can be of interest to some.

Meh …

  • It is not wrong to be a new mixer, and have some original recipes.
  • It is not wrong to want to charge people for your recipes, even if you are a new mixer.
  • It is wrong however to use free content and recipes from ELR, youtube, and other people’s work to piggyback your profit on.

Just my 2 cents.

ELR page despite being Lars approved didn’t seem to be crowd approved. It is gone now. So is the help page with the 100 links. No links to anything that isnt made by mixers that want their links on the site.

E-Juice Makers will no longer link to any pages other than our own Recipes on our ELR Pages. We will not link any resource, non-ejm recipe, or videos by any DIY website, Youtube channel, etc. We have the subscribe links on the homepage and we hope that is enough for the new mixer to navigate the DIY spiderweb of info.

My life is full of lots of great passions. The energy here has shown me to move past this idea and stick to mixing. Then letting the mixes speak for themselves. I spoke enough here I think.

Our focus will be on new generating recipes now.

I was damn excited about all this.
Now I’m feeling better by putting a period on being a helping resource.

Got some great new recipes coming including a Cinnamon Roll Latte and a Real Tasting Mango Juice vape.

I have been a working musician for over 20 years now and I have a tendency to liken most of my life’s lessons to music and music related things in relevance. Your venture does seem to be birthed by good intentions and I am not here to judge you but to offer my heartfelt opinions and assistance if desired … and with your last post, I believe you are now heading in the right direction or a better route at the least.

Musicians often cover other artist’s work being that they found inspiration in the message, was intrigued by the musicianship or just flat out love their work and offers gratitude in the form of imitation … but NEVER duplication. However, you will never see a musician copy another artist’s work without providing the proper credit(s) to the original creators. That being said, you have to ensure that any and all recipes on your site include the proper credit to the original author. If this pillar of your site’s foundation is absent, the foundation will be weak and eventually crumble while losing credibility and respect as a result. If you are providing the proper credentials for each and every recipe, honor the requests of the original author if they ask that you remove their “Work”.

The main reason I stated that I was not a fan of this idea is that the site seems to lack Originality. It seemed to me that the site was built on the previous work or others. Not that it did not take diligence to gather the links and info and have them applied to your site but it still lacked in originality.

Additionally, there was the subscription fee … I’m assuming the subscription would allow paying members to access privileged info, recipes including tips for beginners and general help for ones that have specific questions.

The thing is, that is very similar to selling guitar lessons to beginners or intermediate players. To be a guitar instructor, you must be highly qualified with deep knowledge of the subject being taught and positive results in the respective field. Being that you are somewhat new to mixing and are still in the novice stage of your mixing and learning at the same time, I find it somewhat surprising that a novice is trying to teach an art (for a price) while still learning himself.

Ckemist, I hope that this does not offend or upset you. I am trying to be honest and helpful.
