Yes, she runs a very clean and honorable group. I don’t get to interact as much as I’d like, but I stop in when I can. They are an extremely helpful and knowledgeable bunch there. And she never allows anyone to get away with drama or selling. Without being rude or condescending while handling it.
That is the way it should be , I use FB to keep up with family and friends but that is about the extent of it.I just hang out here if when I mix or while I listen to some music.I will browse reddit searching for answers but I would never post anything , I am sure the redditors are thankful for that!
As the topic has moved on to FB groups…it would be remiss of me if I didn’t recommend the one I help admin alongside some other very experienced mixers.
No drama allowed…great vibe…friendly bunch…approaching 2000 members from all over the world…and we welcome and help all from the novice to the experienced mixers.
Open invite to any here that are interested.
I haven’t visited but I have met some of the members here and enjoyed several of their creations.
Just cause I and my views and experiences kept me from some of these groups,
I would say EVERYBODY should at least find their preferred FB group.
about 15+ or so large 1k member DIY Groups.
They all offer value and spend hours and hours answering questions.
VHM - UK mixers that help each other in a kind way. Very nice place and people.
DIY E-Juice Recipes - Errybody 12k
DIY E-Juice for Flavor Addicts (Juice Fairy) Really the best group for a timid new mixer to feel welcome like she said and members have said.
DIYorDIE and DIY Underground - For the younger mixers or more MTV era crowd.
DIY E-Juice University is also great for new mixers
DIY Mix Masterminds
Art of DIY Mixing
Canadian DIY E-Juice Mixers
absolutely right , my friend and if @daath needed financial help and said hey guy im gonna have to charge 5 bucks a month to keep this going and growing i would have no problem , and your right the members here didnt start anything , imo nothing was started it was a discussion of feelings and opinions which we all respect which is why ELR is so great
It only takes one member to get that “private” info / recipe and share for everything to be worthless @Grubby
hmmmm just kidding lol just was feeling like being an ass
Allow me to be Capt. Obvious and throw out some truisms from a seasoned entrepreneur, and the following words are not directed at you as personal fails. First rule of a successful business is your relationships. Most business people have an acute BS meter and pick up on the subtlest clues. Honesty is a metric you cannot undervalue. Transparency is critical and has nothing to do with making people like you. No matter what you offer there will always be Haters, but the decision to buy must be based on fact.
The relationship building requires some skills only developed by multiple asskickings, so welcome to the Fire. I don’t have any critique or advice other than this, and I can see it’s stressful watching this happen out in the open for all to judge. Humility, honesty and simple listening solve most relationship problems.
The success you may be experiencing shows at least you are selling what some people are buying, but growth will depend on adopting an evolving Sales strategy. When you experience negativity you can only ask yourself “how can I improve these relationships”. Just read some of the Customer complaints on ELR (Vape Vendors). Bad “Press” can be reversed. Image is everything.
Major point missed in all of this is that you are a web developer and maybe not a master Mixer. Duh! Those are two skills rarely combined [looking aver at Lars]. We may have many highly skilled Mixologists on here but I don’t see any threads on “How to make a Web Site” on ELR. Besides the relationship aspect, your main goal is to be selling what folks are buying, but never forget what has made ELR successful …positivity and openness.
I think many people see the pay section with some distaste. It is different, and may require something more elegant to soften the cliquey feel. That’s the real challenge. The answer will be content, but it better be superior if you are going to charge money. I think you may find your affiliate business grows so it can be offered for free …but how can you deal with the folks that have paid?
All these people openly expressed themselves, and it should impact your strategies for the future in some way …that’s all you. Well actually you should have a circle of people who’s opinions you trust, and always be open to listening. I’m old so I remember boxes of Netscape on shelves at the books store. Clearly they felt they the need to be compensated for their software development, but browsers are free now because that’s just plain competition.
Some people lose when their ego blocks their own enlightenment (waving goodbye to Netscape, my first Internet browser). Smarter Developers just found another way to get paid. Don’t be Netscape. Grow your affiliate base by making more friends. Always be selling …but make sure it’s what folks want. You should sell yourself more as a web developer …heh but also be prepared for that critique on the Web Dev Forums
I don’t get it…?
Well written statement. Very true in all aspects. I’m a sales coordinator and my main takeaway is sell yourself and the rest will fall into place.
Respect is earned. Many here have earned mine. Others, not so much.
What everybody DOES have a right to is to be treated with dignity.
I take the reasonable opinions even of people like Jennifer, JoJo, Lars, Darth, Wayne, all of them.
If you ask your favorite mixer or admin, they will tell you I likely approached them first months ago, to make them aware. The parts that I see as relevant and useful for the actual members and free content users, I will of course, direct the site that way.
The site was only launched as a wordpress install three months ago.
The membership plugin was turned on a week ago only to allow us to start adding content of superior value.
11 members have signed up in only a week, so great beta start.
I never posted here as a “Join Membership” post EVER for a reason.
Its in BETA. Meaning unfinished testing and not for the public.
Testing only.
It needed to be on to add content and qa test.
No membership marketing has ever been done. It was not ready yet.
And as of now the only recipes currently featured on the site are from two mixers, one of them being myself.
Then the ones that link to ELR on the ELR page but that was just a nice project I found joy in making. If you all desire that gone, its a 10 sec fix. I like the submenu for finding the pages I use most.
There are dozens of FREE recipes here to mix and ELR will always be where most of my recipes are. Free recipes. But in addition to that I do nuts stuff like a strawberry red currant inawera custard vape that I put on the member’s side cause its a pain to make and I don’t want a brand new user first time user even trying or seeing that mix. Once they are a member they are clearly deeper than feet wet so crazy projects will be more up their alley.
Also if you leak it, so be it. The membership is a support action not a charge for coolness etc. You support us. We support You. The $5 just makes sure we all know what we are about. Thats how you support your new ADV Circus Cobbler that you got for free if you wanna say thanks. Become a member, if not, just say “thanks” as a comment. Like for real I just love mixing and like making projects like websites, this is like my 30th website I have built for various clients and my personal projects. People just really need this or really don’t need this, but it seems to be of value if only to spark a DIY wide community conversation.
I feel I have a right as a mixer to do what I choose with my mixes, selling to a company, charge a dollar, design customs for people and charge, or give away for free. I have a number free ones that are mega popular on my ELR profile. The member side has always been about new non-existing content.
As a designer, I make resources, pages, and ideas that would help me.
Much respected and listened to. @bodarc you are appreciated for taking the time.
I likened it to people walking in a restaurant that is having a friends and family dinner while still deciding final dishes for menu, and wallpaper decor. And random future guests are walking in and demanding that the service is on par with an award winning restaurant. We hope to get you all to the place where you are giving us a solid stamp of DIY approval but just are asking for time to develop. Unless some Devs wanna help. Its all me right now. Send any good ideas you have to me though. Im always listening for positive suggestions.
And to all the hate mail and junk, I have got WAY more love from those that got to know me first, bothered to chat enough to see my views, and just gave me the same benefit of the doubt they would hope for when doing something they felt was a kind positive action for folks. Positivity and love is what I care about folks, and do my best to reflect daily no matter the weather.
I will let you know the grand opening day I promise…
Woosah
If you want to mix my public recipes here is my ELR link folks.
Thanks for the positive comments, messages, signup, and general love my way in the midst of this thread. It helped remind me why I’m here and why I’m sticking around.
@Ckemist Wordpress… It can be “on” but not visible… Make the member pages for admins only until launch…
So to keep the login part nimble and not wordpress based I use a paywall system that lays over protected pages. They all need to be wordpress public tho. Im not using wordpess users system
so i had to have public pages.
This is due to the wordpress users glitching sometimes and destroying the site (DEV HELL).
So in an attempt to scale it without ruining the site. It uses a plugin NY Times etc use to paywall parts.
The questions lets anyone that is a member ask with their name or anonomously to help encourage people that may be afraid to put their name on a
"dumb question" if that makes sense.
Like the homepage alone has had 120 revisions. This things grows daily and adjusts daily.
I run and have built numerous wordpress sites, the user system is stable and works a treat.
Like i have already said to you, it takes time to create, please do yourself a favour and take a week to rethink your strategy, you have a good thing started dont spoil it by trying to rush.
That surprises me you would leak the pics then.
But like I said, there will always be critics. It is how we answer those critiques that matter.
Shout out to those that love the site! Glad to help your mixing life be a little easier!
Nice …wise words.
