Coronavirus

I wish I could say that. Essential personnel and all that. I can get the pay I mentioned in my post above, so not sure what’s what yet, but I’ll be back out there next week. Wife’s telecommuting, so she’ll be safe at least.

Ironically I share @anon28032772 thoughts on the severity of the situation, but I choose to deal with it in a different way. Many of us (Americans, and I’m sure others…) have already BEEN ready, for things just like this. Many called us crazy, nutty, and worse, BUT, every dog has it’s day. I can’t prep my way out of getting sick, but I didn’t need to race out and hoard anything, as it is already here. Who knows what may transpire, curfews, additional constraints, etc. I’m not screaming about hoards of looters, or opportunists, but, hehe, we’re ready for them too.

I DO feel bad obviously for the elderly, the compromised, as they are at greater risk. People who are living close to paycheck to paycheck, etc., will be affected, and we’ll have to see how our “governmental” plan(s) come into effect, and the timeliness of it.

We have some closings up here, and they declared a State of Emergency, mostly for help with funding, and removing red tape that would otherwise hinder things. So far, just watching it unfold before naping, and getting back out there.

If I personally see some good “goings ons” I’ll be sure to post back.

Hehe, I mean, I don’t know @anon84779643, it’s bad. Will get worse, but it’s not like we’re going out there licking doorknobs. Honestly, I’d rather NOT be going to work if I had the choice, but we’ll see how it goes. VIC’s and all that.

Yeah, door knobs are bad for your back! :crazy_face:

On a serious note tho I had a dr friend tell me it will get worse before it gets better, and the number one reason behind it: People can get real stupid, real quick.

What’s worrying me, is the GP. Obviously we’ve NOT been doing a great job of testing as a country, BUT, I can report to multiple, free, drive up testing centers in my state, and they HAVE been doing brisk business, so testing IS ramping up. The numbers ARE going to rise, once we start to test more, and I fear the public’s knee-jerk reaction to that. I have a relative in ICU right now, and am constantly going there. Hell, I’ll probably GET Corona with all my trips to/from.

Scaremongering? You call it what you want. I’m just saying people shouldn’t underestimate what is happening but if you look outside, the majority of people are crowding up supermarkets and doing everything that goes against all advice from governments and health officials. It will get a lot worse before things get back to normal. Just the other day the govt shut down most businesses during the weekends so what do people do? They cross the border to go shop and visit restaurants where the same rules don’t apply. People are dumb and they’re acting like it. With such attitudes, things will get a lot worse before they get better and governments will have to impose stricter restrictions and things will drag out and drag the economy down with it.

Being in the middle of it? I don’t know about that… As long as infections keep rising I’d say we haven’t even passed the beginning and whole economies are already shut down. With more and more people living from paycheck to paycheck, this is not a situation that can be maintained for a very long time.

@anon28032772, please stay safe…
I know it is crazy and I just said what one of my Dr friends said too…
People are stupid… and this will wreck havoc for a while. At least another 3 months.

Well THAT, is 100% true, and it’s about 110% of the reason that people like myself (and many others) prepare ahead of time. Time and time again, those who panic, are the ones who did not prepare. Preppers rejoice, as no one’s calling you crazy now.

If it continues, I can forsee martial law, at least over here. China apparently knows VERY well, how to LOCK things down in their country.

The phrase “In the middle of” doesn’t mean at the mid-point, it simply means during, or ongoing. Our mid-point will be when we finally hit our peak level of infection, which we have not yet.
