Coronavirus

There’s no way they could have known that eating flying rodents would start all this.

There are many factors that play a role, it’s a very complicated issue with many factors that influence each other, but I see these as the biggest reasons.
The last financial crisis - cutting heavily in public services that weren’t affordable anymore, even without proper studies of what the cost would be of failures in those areas.
The rise of the right / extreme and unbalanced politics throughout the “west”- cutting red tape, instilling fear in population and lately, messages that we should not trust independent experts anymore (because they all have their own political agenda).
Technology and media - social media, the spread of fake news, instilling fear in people and making it nearly impossible for fact checking. An increase of a certain kind of arrogance due to the fact that everybody can google and thinks the results are just as worthy as the advice of experts in their fields.
Rapid rise of inequality - which sees an increase in populism that comes with a lot of finger pointing, distrust, a severe lack of good solutions for the problems they highlight and an incredibly short-sighted vision on the future and foreign relations.

Are they stupid, or are they just selfish?
We are living in the ME, ME, ME era with the selfie generation up in front.
‘We want to go to a restaurant, we want to see a movie. O my god, if my sportschool is closing what am I going to do.’

It’s been like this for a long time already, only the issues were different.

‘I don’t want my taxes to go to school milk benefiting poor kids, I don’t want my taxes to go to education, I’ve got no kids, why should I pay for that.’
I’m sure anybody could come up with plenty more examples of this kind of thinking.

Community spirit is long dead, we’ve been completely divided and conquered a long time ago.

Now people are rolling over each other in shops to grab as much as they can. ME, ME, ME!

Don’t get me wrong, I know there are still people who do care about others, but they are becoming a rare breed, that’s why they get splashed with attention on various tv programmes whenever their selfless actions become known.
‘Look at this person, he or she did something for other people without reaping any benefits, can you imagine?’

Maybe we can start a freakshow of traveling do-gooders, so everyone else can gawk at them.

Then again, maybe I just got up at the wrong side of the bed today. My worldview is a little bleak at the moment.
It might change in a few hours, when/if I feel better. Then again it might not.

Maybe it is high time we completely change the way we live and get rid of this economy thing that is ruling peoples lives.
Economy is a man-made thing, mostly imaginary with non existent money floating around in space and we are willing to sacrifice everything to keep it going.

I hereby declare the Human species officially insane.

Take this post with a grain of salt please, as I said, I feel like shit, it’s affecting my worldview.
End of Rant.

Same reason they broke the healthcare system (and other things), to give more money to those who already have enough.
Our healthcare system can’t even cope under normal circumstances, waiting lists are growing.
This thing happening is a disaster.
As I said in another post, we have managers who play politician. The only objective is saving a lot of money by making short-term decisions that have very dire longterm consequences.
The money they save is transferred to the people that have payed a shitload of money to put them where they are right now.

Sorry for the continuing rant.
Over and out, honest

Well, I guess there’s always the dim hope that the left will restore the nation to sanity and reason by electing a body double clone to president in 2020, or at least making a serious stab at it, anyway.

I think the key here, is patience.

My son is now out of his internship, at the hopsital for the next 2 weeks.
He is 20 yrs old. He will be doing his chores here, he will learn math by helping me with flavors
No he does not vape, but he can keep learning.
In fact, he was just challenged to make his own guitar and learn 1 song.
His program will just be adjusted. I do not believe they will have him in the hospital while the virus “peeks” in May. He will still have his intern, it will be adjusted.

Because he is special needs, his anxiety is thru the roof. I have to be the parent he looks up to, and show him how to adjust for this pandemic. We made face masks yesterday, and he knows proper hand washing. He will be fine. We are calling on all of our elderly neighbors to check on them, every day.

The key here is called compassion. @Josephine_van_Rijn you are right to rant, and I do think less time on line to read into the dramas unfolding, the better. Rant on, my friend!

Remember, life is too short. Stay in touch but keep moving forward!

Even if they dev a shot for this crud, we all will still get it… even if it is mild, germs suck!
If you are mixing for others, step up on your hygiene, masks gloves, bleach your mix area, wipe your bottles, keep your bottles clean, sterilize any glassware, and keep personal contact to a minimum.

Stay safe everyone… and yeps patience. It can not last forever. The world isnt ending.

I was just pulling your leg a bit, chum. I actually truly admire the left for tapping into the world’s most unlimited resource - the bottomless depths of human fallibility. Think of the potential.

The only place that I visit online is ELR and VC. I haven’t got a tv for at least 10 years, don’t read any papers or magazines and don’t follow the news online.
I still get enough info living under a rock to make my blood boil, not to mention what I see happening around me in the shops and the street.

I have a terrible headache and they cleaned out all the shops, no paracetamol to be had anywhere.

As for all the other arguments I’ve seen across this topic, Fuck Politics!

Wow! You could be an Ogre!!! ( not that you should desire such a thing). Pretty much same here. My wife has a TV in the living room. I don’t have one where I spend my time. If I read anything, one sniff of bashing and I’m done. I am watching the CoronaV closely as I see it as an amazing study into human nature that has never played out like this in my lifetime anyway. It’s like every possible character defect is in a glaring light. Don’t mistake that statement, I am finding a lot of my thinking questionable too. I’m not bashing. I see this as a wonderful learning experience. Obviously it would be nice to survive the mess and apply lessons learned but the postulate that makes all of this possible is the uncertainty.

Shush, I’ve managed to keep that quiet so people still knock on my door :yum:

Same here, I find it a very healthy attitude. People who are so very sure of being on the ‘right’ side scare the shit out of me.

That’s a great strategy! Much better than having to go out grocery shopping and possibly be exposed.

Amen!!! One of the biggest reasons I won’t eat a politician.

“Take this post with a grain of salt”
Sorry cannot, because it’s true what u say.

Now some hospitals in Denmark being stolen from all kind of isolation suits, mask and sanitizer, even a children hospice, so now they have to close most of the doors.
I’m so damn mad about all those egoistic morans.

I feel I’m in a scene of walking dead… Sorry to say. :rage::rage::rage:
