Coronavirus

I really feel sorry for you folks really.

We need the economy to go up, what the hack, it’s only the elder and chronic sick people who will die.

I’m impressed with Dr. Burks data approach. While allowing early models based on assumption to continue she is developing real time feedback models and expanded data points to be able to assemble the best possible aggregate analysis. Very wise.

(As you likely know), one has to harken back a bit earlier to understand the “everything it touches dies” bit. “Cerebral and relaxing” seems the antithesis of (here IMO descriptive) terms. “Lord help us”, indeed.

University of Washington researchers predict 80,000 COVID-19 deaths in U.S. by July

The research paper pre-print submitted today (on March 26, 2020) for peer-review of contents:

That’s interesting. My mother has hypertension and takes medication for it. She asked her doctor about her condition and the medication related to COVID-19, and the doc said that her age was more of a risk than her condition and meds…

I suspect that I have inherited her hypertension - when all this coronavirus shit is over, I’m gonna go see my doc and have it looked at, to see if I need medication for it as well. Weird getting old :stuck_out_tongue:

From my (many, disorganized) bookmarks to relating to articles and papers read - males with severe COVID-19 are roughly twice as likely to die as are women (reported earlier in China, more recently added to with additional data). While the usual (hand-waving) “moralizing” (“well, men may tend to smoke more, be more self-destructive in lifestyle to lungs”, etc) is predictably going on (seemingly not based in serious data analysis), it appears true that women have larger numbers of ACE2 receptors (in same body areas, and organs). ACE Inhibitors are thought to up-regulate the production/quantity of ACE2 receptors (in a manner similar to how Nicotine usage up-regulates the production/quantity of Nicotinic Acetylcholine receptor types). It might (only just possibly) be that having more resident and operational ACE2 receptors in the various affected bodily organs/tissues is in some way(s) protective against the untoward effect of SARS CoV-2 antigens hijacking ACE2 receptors. Much remains unclear !

The effects of hypertension (on average, over the long term) are problematic where it comes to the formation of arterial plaques (in general). However, one is far better off pro-actively managing diet, sleep, activities, and the effects of emotional stress than the less desirable “reactive” medication regimens (ACE Inhibitors, Diuretics, Beta Blockers, Nitroglycerin), which are rough on Liver, Kidneys.

The formation of arterial plaques (containing Calcium, Phosphorous, Cholesterols, and more) are highly influenced by individual genetics of a person as they relate to Very Low Density Lipids (VLDL) in blood.

Oh thank god!!! I’m on a calcium channel blocker not an ACE inhibitor!!! I guess I dodged being more susceptible!

@Raven-Knightly
What are we looking at here? a x5 or x10 fold amount of deaths in Washington state?

@Raven-Knightly
Those of us that have heart problems at this point aren’t going to be able to do all the things you suggest. I’ve tried but shedding the stress isn’t obtainable for me.

We should be offering the hydroxychloroquine/Z-pack option. Some may die from it but I doubt it will be as much as those who don’t have medical issues like this (or more). hydroxychloroquine has it’s side effects but I imagine those are easier to get through when you aren’t as sick as the COVID-19 virus.

I don’t care at this point if we haven’t had the “double blind tests” etc… Someone threw a “Hail Marry” and it works. I’ve done some research (quite a bit actually) and understand the functions. The two are the only known strengths to give at this point. They know what the 2 do. (Ugh… I know what they do now too… I swear, If someone quizzes me… just one… I’M GOING TO WRITE THEM A LOONGG BOOK!!!)

From what I understand, it starts off rather mildly. However, the minute it’s noticeable that they are headed to ARDS (by evaluation to xray or cat scan) it’s time to use the Z-pack bomb. Maybe they can start with smaller doses if they catch it early enough and work up?

We may not know the longevity of their life after but this is crunch time. We can do all these wonderful studies on it later. If we come up with another, safer method of treatment, that’s good but we aren’t there yet.

It’s what there is. Give them the option. Don’t make them suffer.

I know you have a Bachelors or Masters (maybe even a doctorate) where you got your expanded vocabulary (or you read a lot). Here’s my problem. I’m usually stuck talking to tradesmen and maybe 2-3 engineers.We tend to keep out vocabulary a tad more rudimentary… saves us from having to weld… :rofl: :laughing: :rofl: :laughing:

@daath
Isn’t it such a joy? I’ve been telling my dad to get out of the way when I look at a mirror for years… Then it dawns on me… Oh, the aches and pains too…

In life you only get your body on a lease program… ok… I’d like to trade mine in now. I want one with less miles, new tires, and a better suspension lmao.
