Thank you. Me too.

I have been vaping since 2012, so almost ten years now. I smoked “red’s” at about a pack and a half per day for 35 years before that. Long story shortened, I can breath now and have a lot more energy. I even bought a push mower instead of using my riding one, which is why I bought the riding one to begin with, with cigarettes. I mix my own now and consume about 100ml per week. I like the custards. I had my lungs x-rayed and they said there were no issues. This was done because of a positive TB test result. Vaping can’t be as good as not vaping, but I can say I am not having any breathing issues now at 60 and have more energy than when smoking. Stairs are no issue for me now unlike when I was smoking.

Keep in mind that proper hydration is very important. Even more so for a heavy vaper.

I can’t believe the doctors over the other side of the pond are saying things like this. I have a registered doctor here in the UK, but due to the nhs being so busy I rarely see him and have seen several other doctors on occasions. When ask if I smoke and I respond with “No, but I vape” … not one of them have told me it’s bad for me , in fact they have fully encouraged it. Makes me think that your powers that be over there are telling doctors to tell you to stop in a bid to help them try and enforce all the different bans you guys have. It’s crazy that we can’t substitute smoking for a much more healthier variant such as vaping but a heroin addict can get methadone on prescription to try and kick that habit . Well that’s just as addictive if not more so than heroin, and probably just as harmful. So go figure !

The powers that be in America sound similar to those in Australia. I’ve almost given up trying to explain to any doctor that I vape and don’t smoke anymore as they all say the same thing in that it’s an unknown quantity but research emerging indicates that it’s dangerous and I should stop vaping. Did I read about the deaths in America linked to vaping blah, blah, blah.
I’m no medical expert and have always listened to a doctor but I’ve certainly argued about vaping. I actually had one tell me it’s more dangerous than smoking.
Basically that’s why I haven’t approached any doctor in my local surgery about obtaining a prescription as I know it’s going to be a waste of time and a immense frustration. A few years ago during a general check up I was asked if I still smoked and replied with great enthusiasm and pride that I gave up by utalising vaping. He said I’ll leave you listed as a smoker then as it’s the same thing. No amount of persuasion was going to change that.
Subsequently I’ve had two chest X-rays and both have come up clear with zero problems.

It’s almost as if they’re brain washed which considering they’re profession, obvious intelligence and sworn oath I find incredibly annoying.

@Jammer3 @Gazza7 oh yeah, i have seen so many different doctors and not one has ever had anything good to say about vaping. in fact, i started vaping at the same time that my doctor enrolled me in a smoking cessation study. it wasn’t working for me but the vaping made me quit in a week. i found myself arguing with other participants in the study when i told them about it because they were all convinced that vaping was as bad, if not worse, than vaping. at the end of the study, the researchers were impressed that i quit and that my carbon monoxide readings were zero. i told them that they should looking into designing a vaping study as a means to quitting and they looked at me like i had three heads! and the funny thing is, i kept in contact with the other participants for up to a year after the study through a forum that the study had us enroll in. one year later and not a single one of them could quit smoking and were in despair. it was sad and pathetic. it didn’t matter to them that one year later i was still smoke free, they refused to consider vaping to help them quit.

Wow! Thanks for sharing this. Congratulations on your success. I’m guessing the other participants you kept in touch with know you are successful with Vape replacement. None of the others wanted to try Vaping, or some just couldn’t make the switch? That seems odd. How many people were in this study?

@JiM210 i’m no longer with them because i just couldn’t take it anymore. it was like being in a cult of suffering and self-loathing. they did know that i was successful with not smoking cigarettes but, in their opinion, i replaced one smoking addiction with another “smoking” addiction. but the thing that was too intolerable for me to continue was their addiction to shame. it was as if they were addicted to feeling shame and punishing themselves for not having the strength to quit. cigarettes were evil and they were victims, and continuing to smoke or slipping up with one cigarette after having quit was cause for lots of hand wringing and soul searching. i would say there were a couple of hundred participants but only about twenty to thirty active ones in the forum where we would engage with each other. but it would rotate because some would drop out and new ones would come in. i would say there was a core of about ten people that stuck through and were active, including myself, for the year that i stayed.

Well that’s a loaded question.Do u chain vape? If so do u vape high wattage n big clouds? Maybe try low Watts MTL n step up the nic level to make up the difference so u still feel the nic.I can vape 10 mg DIY Salt nic at 55 Watts in a Mesh Rta, big clouds but I only hit it 2-3 tokes every 15 min.ALSO MTL IS AN OPTION it feels easier on my lungs to vape 15-18watts mtl( restricted draw, smaller clouds) but at those low Watts u wont feel 3 mg n either go higher to 6 or 9 mg which might be harsher or switch to salt nic 25 mg( unless u DIY n can go lower) in a little pod or pod mod or mod with mtl Rta.which also helps u not chain vape cause nic or salt nic doesn’t bother your lungs generally. Its the thick white constant warm clouds so a Mtl rta you need a .6,.7,.8,.9,1.0, 1.2 ohm coil so you’ll get smaller clouds, equal flavor n vape way less by getting more nic in 2-3 tokes with 6,9,12,18 mg freebase OR 25MG SALT IN A Ecigg little pod system or 40 watt pod mod or Mod and Mtl Rta.When I was vaping 3 mg reg nic I was vaping non stop n room was like a whiteout…not anymore since switching to 6 mg restricted lung and 25 mg salt nic…just something to try but if u feel no matter what your oxegyn levels says n you feel like your breathing fine keep vaping but change you setup

I’m in and out of doctor’s offices and have respiratory problems and sleep apnea and so far I’ve luckily had no issues with personal nurses, regular RNs, GPs or even Specialists that vaping is a problem, in fact the respirtory physician said reading over my chart I labelled myself as a smoker, he asked how many cigarettes I smoked in a day, I said, "Well I don’t smoke cigarettes I actually vape though and he said, “Oh no, that’s great, I’d rather see you vaping than smoking but it would be preferred if you quit both” So that right there tells you that some people have studied it and know that it’s a lower risk. And although anecdotal I do however know someone with COPD that said they DID benefit from vaping, but also found out that certain juices bugged them, but they were able to stop vaping without any issues. Which if you really think about it is the end goal, we just choose to carry on because we like the flavours or the method, it’s like a compulsive habit to puff on something when I’m just relaxing. Sadly, I do believe my respiratory problems are due to a bad ventricular valve, so my breathing and oxygen levels aren’t the greatest but I’m on disability now and it’s just a matter of time before I can go in and get the surgery done.

@Mike_card i vape from a pod. a Smok Nord 2, and i use a 0.6 ohm coil at 17 watts. so, nothing, really. but i do vape all day long. i have it in my hand at all times and puff away. i rarely bother to look at the puff count but I guess i should just to see. but i do now that i vape a lot. like, i will even vape while i’m working out at home. i’ll take a couple of vapes in between sets. lol. oh, and i make my own juice and use 12 mg. nic salt. i feel absolutely fine, so am not really pressed to quit vaping. maybe cut down but certainly i’m not quitting until something alarms me, like, if my O2 counts drop further or i feel out of breath. for now, i don’t feel any effects whatsoever.

@anon44012888 oh, absolutely, it’s just a very pleasurable habit. most of my non-vaping friends swear up and down that i’m horribly addicted when nothing’s further from the truth. it’s just so damn convenient, easy, tasty and pleasurable. when i’m not vaping for a long period, like when i forget my device or it’s charging, i have no need for it. i never feel a nicotine craving like how i did when i smoked. back when i smoked i would have crawled naked out in the snow to get my fix but now i just shrug my shoulders when i don’t have my vape. but when i do have it, it’s like my buddy, my security blanket, and so i will vape away.

Just my thoughts, I SubOhm and I’m not a pod user but I do have some salts in the freezer just in case I ever need it.
Have you considered that benzoic acid may be an issue, everyone’s different and it may cause irritation / shortness of breath in some ppl

I get that, completely!

I, too, occasionally leave my vape at home when we go running errands. I feel a little anxiety but it passes and I’m good until I get back home. Puff vigorously then I’m good.

I’d say yes, I AM addicted to nicotine but it’s not a skin crawling, climbing the walls sort of addiction. When I have my vape with me “cool” when I don’t “aw, crap. I forgot it… shrugs oh well. I can wait.”

Back when I was smoking cigarettes, if I ran out or forgot em…? I’d have willingly sold my left ovary for one!

Hmm that about exactly what I vape…10-12 mg nic salt but I use it in my mesh Rtas and my gf uses my DIY 15 mg spearmint menthol in her Novo 2 .I can’t imagine why it would raise your blood pressure but at 55watts that 10 mg raises mine too.I think its just what nic does its a stimulant. And I already had high blood pressure before I started vaping. But I don’t chain vape…sometimes forget I even vape until I look up at my shelf so I prob take 3-4 big tokes every 15 minutes.I wouldn’t be alarmed some people get heart palpatations because they vape 50 mg juul instead of coming down to 25 or 6 mg freebase.I chain vape when I use 3 or 6 mg freebase so 10Salt keeps me honest…Good luck but I don’t necessarily blame it on vaping tho its not helping

@Rocky02852 that’s a good possibility to consider. when i first began using salts, i would purchase commercial ejuices and use either 35 or 50 mg. i did notice that my lungs felt more “achey”, so when salts became available for DIY, i brought it down to 12mg. it’s worth experimenting with freebase to see if there’s a difference. although, i have to admit, after getting used to the smoothness of salts, freebase feels so harsh to me. oh great, i have gallons of salts in my freezer now. lol. well, not gallons but plenty.

@Mike_card oh my blood pressure is on the low end. it regularly measures less than the standard 120/80 even when i vape right before getting my blood pressure taken, which boggles my mind. hmmm, i wonder if i’m a psychopath?? LOL!

Lol…nah but I know if u vape salt nic it will sky rocket.I used to get heart palpations from 50 mg…then a flav ban came to NY and I knew it was coming in advance so I knew 80% how to DIY before I even ordered any DIY stuff by watching a lot of Wayne walker from youtube channel DIY or Die so I now vape salt nic at 12 mg but at 50watts in my mesh RTA s at normal thickness 70-30 vg pg.I think I mentioned it really keeps me from chain vaping cause 12 is not high cor salt or any nic really but it is if u crank the Watts the more it effects you.I was vaping 20 mg but it was too strong n getting nic sick n dizzy…if I used a little caliburn or novo pod it wouldn’t cause they only run at like 15 Watts but up around 50w I get much more flavor but feel the nic more too so I just had to cut the strength in half. Im vaping a nice Expresso type creamy vape and my other mesh Rta Im
still vaping this banana lime cream puff I came up with.I’ll eventually come down to maybe 8 mg as long as I feel it n taste it.If I vape 3 mg i know myself…ill chain vape n cloud the room out n I’m kinda over the whole cloud thing.Mesh Rta is a cooler vape, cheaper to run, easy to build n wick n plenty of flavor n clouds for me.Low maintainance low cost who doesn’t like that n homemade juice is where I’m saving the most money. If I had to vape 0 mg ID likely quit.I never smoked but started vaping 50 mg juul over 2 yrs ago till flav ban n had to quit or learn how to make it…i chose to make it n the flav ban was a blessing in disquise lol…if it needs more of this or that I fix it…i prob made over 150 diff recipies but ( and I’m not boasting) I’ve never copied or cloned anyones recipies.I like fruits n desserts which happen to be the easiest liquid to make.I also love to cook so its all relative to me.I hope u figure something out since u enjoy vaping even if u gotta vape 2 mg its better than no Mg.I can’t see that doing much harm but maybe make u use the bathroom in the morning :joy: Hey best of luck to ya willie :+1:

Went to full time vaping in 2015, was a pack a day smokes for 40 years. My current oxygen levels (self measured) is 91 to 94 depending on the day. The idea that vaping may cause damage could be somewhat correct due to the fact that I vape 7-8 ML per day of 3mg to 25 mg Nic. I still regularly cough up flem (clear) multiple times a day and I am assuming it is because of vaping. The less I vape the less I cough up flem. Just ordered a Acapella Choice Vibratory PEP Therapy Breathing Device w/ Mouthpiece to help loosen the flem in my lungs to help clear them out. I am of the opinion that if you do everything healthy based on what the doctors CURRENTLY know you will still die of something. The alternative is you will die of nothing but still die anyway so what is the point? Still vaping my DIY and will continue to do so but acknowledge that I will die of something at some point and am fine with that.

I have vaped for 6 years now. I have used all commercial juices and have just very recently started buying supplies to make my own. I only use 3 nic. I had been fine, and then one day I had fallen asleep after my husband went to work and I woke up to my granddaughter pounding on the door and the phone ringing. My husband said he’d been trying all day to call me and I looked at the clock and 10 hours had passed since he’d left for work. I still felt fine so when my granddaughter asked if she needed to come in I told her that I was fine and go ahead and go to your friend’s house. I had left my phone by the door and went and laid back down on the couch, woke up nearly 2 hours later and went to get up and my legs went out from under me and suddenly was having a hard time breathing. I had to crawl to get to my phone and call 911. When the firefighters and EMS got there I had passed out on the floor. The ER doctors said that everything that had happened was because my oxygen was too low. I believe he said that it was 86 when I got there. They admitted me and ran just about every test under the sun. They couldn’t tell me what was going on for 2 days. I had to be on oxygen and breathing treatments because my oxygen kept dipping below 90. They came to the conclusion that I had double pneumonia, and then they found out that I vaped, so then they blamed that. They told me that kids were dying from it and I tried to tell them that they were vaping something other than the commercial juices like I do and they just wouldn’t listen to me. They said that the tissue in the bottom of my lungs had collapsed and they didn’t know if it was ever going to get back to normal. I spent 10 days there. The day that I was discharged the pulmonologist told me that he thought it had caused me to get COPD, but I needed to see him or another pulmonologist in the office. Now, I’ve had double pneumonia a few times in my life. I would always run a high fever and cough up all kinds of gunk, but that wasn’t happening. I still don’t know if I really had it or not, but I have my doubts. I am still vaping, but not anything like I was. I haven’t had to use the nebulizer yet and I was discharged nearly 6 weeks ago. I do use inhalers, but I was using them previously for my asthma. I haven’t seen the pulmonologist yet. My daughter had a medical emergency and was in ICU for 5 days and I had to come and help with my grandsons and help her when she came home. I am finally going home tomorrow. So, (sorry for writing a book here) yes, my doctors tried telling me the same thing that yours did. Do I believe it? Not really… I hope you get better soon. Oh yes, I forgot to tell you, I have been checking my oxygen several times a day and I haven’t seen it any lower than 97
