Does everyone really use a huge variety of flavors and large volumes?

I keep seeing posts about what seems to be a lot of mixers ordering more and more flavors, and asking where to get them in 4oz sizes. I have only been mixing for a little over 3 months, and have approximately 80-90 flavors, all in mostly 10-15ml sizes. And I am not going through the flavors very fast.

I have been experimenting and learning mixing, and usually have approximately 40 bottles of 10ml each recipes steeping and/or vaping at any given time. At this rate, except for a few popularly used ones, it seems my concentrates will last me a very very long time. I’m a chain vaper, but I still only go through about 5mls a day.

How much of the flavoring do you use? Will you really use 4oz sizes before they go bad? How many recipes do you usually maintain in steeping/testing/vaping phase? What is your normal?

I ask because I will be ordering more concentrates, and I’m trying to get an idea of what I should start doing size wise. I have found sometimes I mix just because I enjoy it, and who knows if I will even ever get to try everything…lol. I hope I do, but I have been trying to not mix more than I might vape in about 2-3 months time. I really liked steeped juice. How long can I keep it once mixed do you think?

Thank you all for your input :sunglasses:

I try to buy new flavors in 30ml size. When I have to refill a bottle, if it is one I went through pretty quickly I order 4oz.

I mix for myself and I mix for friends. If I am mixing a recipe I know is good, and it is one I like I mix 250ml of it. I have some recipes steeping that are a full 8oz bottle. I am getting away from mixing smaller batches and individual bottles. It is much easier to keep a large bottle steeping in the closet and just fill the bottles I sell or vape from that.

5ml a day? Wow! I go through 5ml in just a few hours at work. At home on my dripper I can go through 5ml much faster. What kind of device are you vaping on?

Thank you for the answers. I am no where near that volume, but I only mix for myself and my husband. I usually vape on 2 devices at a time. Right now I am vaping on a Kanger Subox Nano at 30w on a .5 coil. And an Evic mini with a tfv4 .35ohm Clapton at 45w. And I mix it up with a Crown at .5ohm around 35w. All depends on my mood and flavor I’m liking. I don’t like the heat of high wattage, or the coolness of temp control. Just comfortably warm

And my mix is 30/70 with a 4% saline solution dilution. Not sure if that makes a difference in how much liquid a person goes through?

The wattage makes the difference. In Power mode I am usually at 100 watts. In TC mode I am around 80J. If I was still buying juice I would probably be at 50 watts or so. But since mixing my own is so easy now I don’t really care how much juice I go through

I have maybe 20 recipes going at a given time. Most are my own, but a couple are ones I found on here. I like variety and change my flavors 4 or 5 times a day. But I generally keep the same flavor in a device for a few days. I mostly just change up devices. I have had Unicorn Milk in my TFV4 for 2 days now and it is in my Sigelei 150w with the TFV4 and Quad Coil at 100 watts. I have am finishing of a 50ml bottle as we speak. But like I said, when I get home from work I am vaping on a multitude of devices with various flavors. So 50ml in 2 days has just been while at work.

I go through 30-50 mils daily. If I’m trying a new mix I make at least 30 mils as I will Vape it over a couple weeks if I don’t think much of it within the first 24 hours, see what it is like after steep time. Taste being very subjective even if I don’t like I want extra for others to sample to see if they might like it. If it is something I like that 30 will be gone fast and I make 100-250 mils right away to see how it does over time. The only time I buy 10 mil flavor bottles is to check out new flavors. Purchased 50 inw and 20 FLV other day to sample. The ones I like I will purchase 100 mils to bring costs down per mil. Some flavors I use lots of and they require lots. Cap vanilla custard for instance, if I don’t buy 4 oz bottle I will run out pretty fast as I like my custards. Da mommas vanilla custard alone is worth the investment

I buy a lot of concentrates at the 30ml size. A few I go with the 15ml (small bottles) when I’m buying a support flavor that I hope will take a recipie over the top like cactus. I did buy acouple at the 4oz, but that was for custard, banana, and one that shall not be named since it was a mistake :slightly_smiling.

I do mix for my self, I go through about 10-29 mls per day with about 16 mixes steeping. I typically mix every two weeks. I’m not sure how many concentrates I have but its not enough. Lol.

Costs me 5$ for 10 mil cap- tfa 7$ for 30 9 for 60 mil and keeps getting cheaper as I buy more volume. Also shipping is cheaper per mil I find when buying more bottles. And I hate waiting so I make sure I’m not going to run out quickly

I go thru 20-25ml per day normally during the week and a little more on the weekends.
But, I do drip most of the time, because of my love of changing flavors too often for my tanks.

As for buying flavorings… I typically buy any NEW flavor to test with @10-15ml. AFter
finding a REALLY good mix with that flavor, I’ll purchase 30ml at a time. There are a few
flavorings I have purchased 4oz of, simply because I use them most often.

Oh, and I not only mix for myself, but my son and 3 others.

I’ve been DIY only for about 5 months, I vape about 20mls a day. I typically try 10-20 new recipe iterations a week and keep a constant inventory of 250mls, of my 10-15 proven recipes, on hand. I have about 150-160 flavors to work with and most of those are 30ml bottles. I do have about 15 4oz bottles, which I buy when I see that I go through a 30ml in short order. I make juice for my wife and myself, but also sell juice at $15 for 60mls which allows me to run through my inventory and keep everything fresh. I have no problem with shelf life on flavors as they, 4oz included, dont last for more than 4 months. I do have a few oddball flavors that sounded good or I bought for a recipe and didnt like it, that may or may not get entirely used but I dont reorder those.

As to how long your juice will keep once steeped; depends entirely on the mix. I’ve had some recipes stay strong for 6+months and others start to fade almost immediately.

I’m pretty much exactly like John70, but I try not to use much Cap because they are so diluted and not a single one has struck my fancy like most FA or INW. At best I find Cap OK. Right now, I probably have close to 20 juices steeping. I was going through roughly 100ml a day (0% nic) but since Ive been lowering my %PG I don’t go through nearly as much. . .but my coils and wicks aren’t lasting as long.

I only keep 10-15ml out for mixing and my bulk bottles I store in the refrigerator along with my nic. I don’t freeze my nic, I use nude armor so I figure with refrigeration that should be good enough. I keep one or two juices on hand with nic just if I need some energy.

This sounds very similar to my process.

I only mix for myself and I only vape 10-15ml a day.

As most people, I work on a graduated scale. I have 30ml bottles, 60ml bottles and a few 250ml bottles.

New flavors get mixed in 10ml batches at median recommended percentage in 30ml bottles. Leaves plenty of room for shaking.

Good flavors graduate to the potential blend rack, bad flavors get shit-canned. New blend recipes are then made in 10ml batches in 30ml bottles. I try to make at least 10 new bottles every weekend (solo test or blended) so I always have new stuff coming out of cure every week. Enough to keep me occupied and make it fun, not so many as to overwhelm me and make it like work.

Good blends graduate to 60ml bottles for ADV and extended cure. Sketchy blends get tweaked and placed back in rotation on my to do list.

Blends that have made it to the 60ml cabinet are vaped at leisure and if flavor doesn’t diminish or get weird over the span of several months; I’ll make a 240ml batch in a 250ml bottle as a vape staple. My goal is to have great tasting, STABLE flavor.

New flavors are purchased in smallest quantity available then if they’re good, I’ll get the 30ml. More than enough for my needs. Plus, BCV is right down the road so if a flavor is running low, I can place an order and it’s here the next day

Yes, I’m a custard lover too. I am on my second bottle of CAPS V1, and I got a 30ml to see how long it lasts. I think that is the one I just might end up needing in a 4oz. Yummy!

This is a great question… I only buy a larger size if I use it very often. I mix all the time and vape mainly MTL so I really don’t drain juice super fast but I do my fair share.

I would say if it is a favorite and you know you will use it, then buy the larger size bc in the end it will save you $ d/t shipping if nothing else. I mainly will go to get one thing and will end up w/ a cart full…this can be avoided if you have a back up supply. I started buying " back up stock " when I saw it on sale and really I tend to only buy the 10-15 ml sizes but on a few I will buy the larger 4 oz. size.

This is exactly what I do. I mix approximately 10 per week in 10mls, and after a steep it’s either trashed, back to the mixing table for tweaking, or I mix a 30ml if I like it. Although I am learning that citrus flavors seem to fade quickly, I’ve got to start vaping those fresh instead of steeping :frowning:
