Don't whip out your mod in front of the police

Were the occupants shooting at the police?

I had to commute into Chicago for a while and a couple other big cities. I don’t think I could do it anymore.

I’m not really sure it matters. My point is the fear reaction by everyone on both sides.

Charged for what? Look at the picture. He is clearly pointing it at them like it was a gun and he is in a classic shooter stance. Put yourself in the officers position and tell me honestly that you wouldnt pull the trigger in this situation.

lol if your now tripping over ak47’s in the street you should seriously consider gun control before someone sprains their ankle.

Remember in May…on my bi-annual trip to St Augustine I was stopped and frisked. I was carrying a Reuleaux with Boreas attached. The cops had been given a report that a man matching my description was carrying a gun. Even though they saw and immediately recognized the device in my hand as a vape, they still frisked me. After all, you can’t be too careful with we fat, balding middle-aged men with khaki shorts, a polo shirt and flip flops. Awww nooooo. Better stop that man before he gets into something. Sheesh.

And you all will also remember my saying I respect law enforcement, the job they have to do, and believe most a good and decent people. I believe that. But this shooting was yet another unnecessary one. The report is the cop discharged several rounds. Why? Why isn’t he trained to shoot to immobilize rather than to kill? You may say that he was doing so, but I submit that emptying a gun (or close to it) is not an attempt to disable but to kill.

So the scenario is, they are in a situation where there may be danger. While they are speaking with the man the should be surveying the landscape, thinking of possible events and responses. One thought should always be if the perp pulls a weapon what do I do? and in formulating that mental scenario, also make a decision on what would be the target of an armed response such as leg or shoulder. Yes, even those shots can kill, but bang, bang, bang, bang bang…that most often always does.

Then again, maybe I’m full of hooey. If the dash cam, body cam or cell cam footage is released maybe we’ll know more. Until then it just seems senseless. And tragic.

I was trained to never even pull my gun out unless I intended to kill someone. A gun is a poor choice for immobilizing someone.

If you have a concealed carry permit and get pulled over (whether carrying or not), always hand them both your drivers license and your carry license. They will know on pulling up your record that you have a carry license and if you don’t show them they will wonder why you are hiding it. It is best to be upfront from the get go!

That may be true. And you can replace the word ā€œgunā€ with any device you feel adequately immobilizes. The point is that deadly force seems to have been a bad call here.

You know what I think happened? I think the cop was scared to death. He wasn’t neutralizing an imminent threat, he was bashing a snake in the head with a rock.

Not always. There are some good choices for immobilizing someone. Taser, net, sticky-glue guns. And there are certainly many more better choices than a gun.

We agree. I’m saying rather than a gun, use ā€œtaser, net, sticky-glue gunā€ etc.

I half expected the mod to be a Vapresso Target…

An eLeaf Pico with a Velocity would probably have ended the same way. Some people shouldn’t carry guns. Sadly, I feel that a number of those people are in law enforcement.

Police shooting unarmed civilians, seems to be happening more and more. Talk about itchy trigger finger.

Just looked at this video in it you see an image of him pointing the vape… he held it like a gun… looks like suicide by cop… tragic but I wouldnt call that an itchy trigger finger.

People are just getting way to quick to assume fault on the part of police… would you seriously not shoot someone you believed was about to shoot you?

Ive never had to make a decision to shoot someone but im fairly certain that if I was in thier position i would shoot him dead I wouldnt risk my life and not going home to my kids.
