@anon70102222, it was a joke!!! all I need to do is get bottles with smaller droppers. BUT… He’s gonna have a shit fit too over the joke lmao I can hear it now (simple Doug, Keep it simple man! omgroflmao).
You can hear it now? That’s odd, since you haven’t heard it yet!!!
@anon70102222,
No. No I haven’t. And he’s been an incredible help with all this. And I haven’t thanked him enough for it either.
@Caped_Conspirathist, I’m starting to feel like we’re moving backwards. Why are you using math ?? I mean math’s good and all, but why are you mathing anything ? You enter the % of each flavor in the calc, is spits out the grams to weigh into your bottle. What am I missing here ?
LOL, wait, what ?? You ARE just dropping flavor out of bottles with tips on right ?? Until the scale reads the right weight, right ?? There’s no cleanup Doug, you just unscrew the caps, drop the flavors in, re-cap. Sloppy ? ?
@Caped_Conspirathist, brother, you need to BREATHE here. If you are overflavoring, then cut back on the amount of flavors, don’t go back to syringes, as you’ll still be overflavored, it will take you 2-3 times longer to mix, and you’ll have the clean up to worry about.
Again, Doug your drop size is NOT what is over flavoring your mixes, you percentages OF the flavors is.
LOL I’m tryin’ @anon70102222 but despite having what I thought was a major clam down, and breakthru, I fear he’s overflavoring, and thinking that syinges or mathing something is going to help.
But I love doing math. I really do! especially this kind of stuff. I never get to use it in the field. I can talk about it but no one wants to hear how the math REALLY doesn’t add up then they wonder why it breaks again. Ugh…
I haven’t gotten the bottles in you told me to order. No one here likes doing the math but it’s such an awesome opportunity for me to.
This is the guy at 14 years old figured out what the equation was for the Enterprise in STNG to figure out the speed x light the ship was moving from warp 1 - warp 9.9999.
Well, how you inject fun into mixing, is up to you. If you complicate things too much with unneeded steps, it will make it almost impossible to help you. I’m all about the fun Doug, but only AFTER I get my mixes sorted out.
@SessionDrummer, I’m about getting the flavor so it tastes right too. all I do is take simple notes. Then when boredom strikes, I go back and look at what I’ve done. It’s just a way to pass the time afterwards.
So do I. When I can bust out a length using the Pythagorean Theorem instead of a tape measure, a kitten is born. But Doug -and I know you will not even read this- there are times when you need to step away from the TI-85. Just listen to Sherpa. Just let the darn recipe calculator do its’ job.
I would say, keep whatever bottles you have now, do not go back to syringes, as smaller/different drops are not your problem. You’ve stated your mixes are too strong, so INSTEAD of using MATH, or SPREADSHEETS (LOL), you need to start taking NOTES, about WHAT exactly is TOO strong for your tastes. If you do not, you will repeat the issue. If you use more than one flavor, it will repeat even more. That will happen no matter how you are getting the flavors from their bottles, into your mix bottle.
I would reduce your flavor percentages, let the mixes steep, and re-asses what you’ve got.
OK, so at least we’ve got HALF the battle won already. Notes for the win.
#UseTheCalc
sacrilege!!!
If you keep telling me to leave my TI-85 behind I’ll have to be put in a rubber room!!! My brain is always going. IDK why? I just do math out of boredom.
I’m not convinced your walls aren’t already padded, chief.
Do it elsewhere. If you want to learn how to mix properly here, listen to Sess-dog and use the calculator provided.
I take the notes for the recipe part of the website. I’d hate to post a piece of garbage. I don’t have the right tools yet either. That makes it more important to me to take the notes. I’d feel like dirt if I just posted something I took a guess on.
BTW, Honestly, Thank you so much for helping! These types of flavors are a bit difficult to work with not having the right equipment. I’m getting there but it’s all mail order.
I spent about 2 hrs last night making a recipe that took me 3-4 hrs before. The scale really did help a ton! no more syringe measuring. Right out of the manufacturers bottle it came! And I still got pretty decent results.
I’ve seen your recipe posts. I know I’m not that good at it. Maybe when I get all the equipment you suggested I’ll have enough to do better. Then quick notes, and post it. Last night was sloppy. The scale did make it a ton easier though (admit it, I got lazy too).
Explain this to me Doug.
Mom said it was in case I tripped was all… She was always overprotective… lmao
