Wow that looks good Frank. I like the FW version way better than the TPA also, but have you tried the Decadent Vapor version of Absinthe. Oh Yea Vea I thought I was seeing green fairies flying around after trying that one. LOL
Frank, I’m sure that one is great, however, I’ve had a few “run in’s” with Sambuca, and sadly cannot participate in that one. :slight_smile. If you are constructing an Ouzo, I will have to decline.
LMBO! @McDuckie
Yep. Made me think of when I tended bar at The Old Absinthe House in N.O. LA back in the 80’s.
The original absinthe drip was still intact, not working anymore of course…the official hallucinogenic choice of the early 20th century.
I used to LOVE the simple Sazerac Cocktail …
Absinthe, to rinse
2 ounces cognac
1/2 ounce simple syrup
3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
Garnish: lemon peel
Here’s one just for you!
Fairy Godmother Absinthe Cocktail
1 oz absinthe (I used Oregon Spirit Distillers)
3/4 oz elderflower liqueur (I used Fiorente)
3/4 oz pineapple juice (use fresh or unsweetened if bottled/canned)
MMM so I can make it like this LMAO
Absinthe (DV) just like the actual liqueur 4%
10% dilution Elderflower (FLV) floral with dark berry notes .50%
Pineapple Juice (VTA) sweet pineapple juice 2%
Lemonade (VTA) fresh lemon juice with slight tartness 1.5%
Shisha Lime (VTA) fresh lime juice no zest 1%
Absinthe (DV) 3% because its just a rinse not a full shot
Cognac (VTA) 2% its potent
Sugar Cane (VTA) 1% its basically a simple syrup
Bitters (VTA) .50 also potent
Lemon Zest (FA) .25%
Tonic Water (VTA) 1.5% to help add body.
Remember, it has be Peychaud’s Bitters (lighter, popular in N.O.), not Angostura, LOL
And, cognac was the original, but when there was a shortage (back then) rye whiskey
was used. Personally I always liked the rye for this anyway. Have at it!
I started uploading my comments on the recipe submissions today, if they have the #elrmixingcomp1 tag, (don’t shoot the messenger)… hopefully I can get to them all before the next contest starts, my daughter has been in the hospital since Jan 31 so it’s been a little rough going lately
