First time post!

No need to worry about that bro - this conversation was derailed long ago :smirk:

And yes! I’ve tried Butterscotch (VTA) which certainly did add another level of depth and layer of creaminess, but not caramel: I’ve got Caramel v1 (Capella) but when it arrived a week or so ago and I cracked the lid to have a smell, I was not overly impressed with the scent came out that bottle.

There’s nothing really wrong with it, it just reminds me of some of the cheaper Caramel Tobacco juices I’ve vaped and there’s something overt about how caramel the caramel is - like it’s trying way too hard to be itself, somehow, when it should just be that way naturally.

I’m sure I’ll find a use for it at lower, background-note kinda percentages but to my mind it’s not good enough to be a dominant or primary flavour

I was just telling her, I have tried Inawera’s Canadian Type and THAT tastes to me like it would pair beautifully with custard: it’s description states it’s mild tobacco with maple syrup, which I get and the tobacco doesn’t have that off or chemical taste a lot of tobacco’s have (the thing that put a lot of us off tobacco flavours entirely), with the maple is both present and good but without really any sweetness which is easy enough to add.

It just seems like it’s distinctive enough to add it’s own presence to custard as well as being super compatible with it because it’s already got a vaguely creamy kinda taste to it.

Not taste, that’s not the word: tone - it’s got a creamy tone, without being inyerface.

Just deciding which of the custard mixes to add it to and in what amount: it’ll only be a little bit though - obvioulsy since custard’s a pretty mild flavour and I still want said custard to dominate.

There’s the two solo mixes of Apple Pie (Cap) and Cake Batter (Cap) done, because I’ve got absolutely no idea what use the Batter might have and it just smells the same as their French Vanilla when I smell the bottle, plus some Canadian Type added to 10mL of existing custard @3% which will probably be a bit stronger than I want but you gotta start at some start point.

Flicking through the flavour notes for Apple Pie I see there’s already cinnamon in the flavour which isn’t a note I really wanted, but oh well - it’s still an overall nice smelling flavour so I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Also strangely, while digging out the flavours I had another sniff of Capella’s Bavarian Cream and found it actually smelled different tonight than the strong, almost coffee note it had when I first opened it.

Probably ‘eggy’ might be the smell I’m meant to be getting, but it doesn’t really smell eggy - just… iunno… certainly rich but weird.

do you think they steeping in the wrong direction, or you just got worn out to them ?

I know what you mean mate, it’s not one of my favourite caramels either but I’m sure it has its uses. There is a saying that I’ve heard from other popular mixers when they have flavours like that and it’s “throw it into a tobacco recipe” because tobacco flavours are bold enough to help cover up a multitude of off notes in dud or unusual flavours. I personally like FA Caramel and FW Salted Caramel. Flavorah Caramel is more of a good brown sugar flavour than it is a caramel. Flavor West Butterscotch Ripple is an excellent flavour and if you see it I would recommend getting some, it really is good.

And 10 minutes ago…

Then being what looks like the early 1900s, though I’m no historical fashion guru so that’d be just a guesstimate.
