Free Choice Vaping in Australia is dead

Yeah, that’s about expected, and unfortunate. :frowning:

Well there you go @Sevencasper. That just makes me mad and sad. So unnecessary and the fact that it’s going to get worse is the truly worrying thing.

Holy shyt
This is lunacy.
The containers colours crap, flavours, their comprehension of these issues is so ignorant
Ok, they think bright colours are going to be more appealing to minors but jesus. The attack on flavours is such a slap in the face for adult vapers, have these three crap flavors or nothing. At first their gripe was with the flavour names being alluring to minors, like candy crush explosion. All that was ever needed was some common sense regulations at point of sale outlets.
Like cigarettes, plain packaging, id required & no alluring ejuice names etc.
How they figured there are a multitude of minors out there mixing their own eliquid is something id like to know? What good would flavours be if minors cant access the vape gear? Most minors were using prefilled disposables, not build or mix your own.
Again, its so bloody insulting how all this has been handled.

Unfortunately the constant war on vaping has been ramping up for ages but it was never solely about stopping kids vaping. It was just disguised that way and as @Sevencasper says all the negativity has put vapers in a very bad public light.
Everything and anything remotely associated with vaping has been lumped into the prohibition in an effort to claw back lost revenue from tobacco taxes. It’s not that kids were using concentrates before but more so that they could once the disposables were banned. The obvious fact that your average 14 year old could never be bothered with all the hassle of mixing is completely redundant to the powers that be, Every dollar spent on vaping by anyone of any age is a loss of tax revenue.
Nobody wants school kids vaping (apart from the black market) but nobody wants kids smoking either (apart from the black market and big tobacco). I could never move past the fact that combustible tobacco is freely available and yet is the known killer of countless millions of people worldwide. As long as a smoker is willing to pay a beyond extortionate amount of tax to continue that’s ok but vaping is damaging your health and must be eradicated? Whilst being complete crap the gateway to smoking statement is easily believed by the voting public and I’d suggest no parent wants their kids to smoke.
The stance of we continue our world leading fight against smoking by constantly ramping up the tax is the insult to people’s intelligence.

Australia can only wait to see if Labor/Greens are beaten in the next general election and whoever comes to power will revisit these ludicrous laws changing them to a sensible and regulated model.

Agree with all you and precious posters have said.

Whilst this current Government is certainly not going to help us with regards to vaping in Australia, I do not hold out too many hopes that any other party gaining power will be all that much help to us either.

All the badmouthing of vaping over the years has “taken”. As a result many of the general population now believes that vaping is bad for you - some even thinking it’s as bad or worse than smoking. Any party wanting to ease up on the vape laws will have to counter that mis-information out there. The current party, responsible for introduction of the current laws, would certainly have to face up to a “well, ummm, we got it very wrong” position before they could ease up, and I don’t think that very likely at all.

Further, (school kids experimenting aside) Vapers are still a small minority in our population. Vaping remains a “fringe” political issue. Whilst the cost of living, housing costs and shortages, delays in the medical systems and now, it seems, nuclear power are and will remain big issues for the population as a whole, vaping will not be a “headline policy issue” that any party will use to try to gain votes.

I just cannot see any party running with “vape reform” as a party platform for any election whilst those other issues remain so serious in our community. No matter how I might wish otherwise, I reckon we’ve got a very long time to go before we see any easing of the current anti-vape laws.

Thats why i say its insulting gazza.
Not only are cigarettes still readily available but theyve done stuff all to eradicate black market chop shop tobacco which is having an even greater health impact on smokers.
Theres a small convenience store up the road from me who has been nabbed at least 5 times selling chop shop and counterfeit cigs. They keep fining them and they keep selling the crap. So theyve obviously factored in the penalties and its still profitable
Im not sure a change of government is going to reverse this remembering it was the lnp and greg hunt as health minister who started this crusade in the first place.
I dont think a couple of mp’s in the nats will have enough influence to go against all the health organisation lobby groups who jumped on this band wagon.
No doubt these orgs would love to get smoking banned if they could but they attacked vaping because in its infancy, it was a battle that could be won.
And it looks like theyve pretty much achieved that victory

Yeppers. The current Govt is just continuing on with what That Hunt Bastard started.

Both of the major political parties have shown they are dead against vaping.

Fing holy crusaders, like there isnt enough our health ministers could be doing to improve our health system?
This shyt was a big distraction to bluff people theyre actually doing something.
Like shaking a set of car keys at a baby, look over here junior.
On a lighter note, congrats to any of our kiwi cousins for the win in the americas cup sailing
Ill never forget that day australia won.
Ben lexcen’s genius winged keel on australia II. Look how far theyve come now lol. These boats are amazing, pulling 40 odd knotts in 8-10 knott winds.

I certainly haven’t forgotten minister Hunt and the fact that once Butler was appointed things went from bad to much worse.
My glimmer of tentative optimism is gleaned from I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that Dutton promised to revisit the laws if elected. He’s a politician and they all lie trying to gain public support and votes but it’s just a little something. However, I totally agree that it’s not an issue for most and in fact a lot of people will have bought into all the anti vaping statements and media reports, therefore making vaping laws too risky for opposing political parties to challenge.
All indicators tell me nothing is going to change soon or in the foreseeable future but one can only hope that someday something will happen to highlight how wrong these laws are.

Just browsing through aliexpress for a new lenovo tablet and got sidetracked with some vape gear.
Not sure if you guys have spotted this sort of thing before but i found it amusing and quite clever.
With new vape laws effecting many countries, including china, has anyone seen these, vape mods listed as soldering iron devices.
They have some decent mods, as well as budget offerings. Quite a few stores have them but its a task finding them
Funny thing is, in the reviews from customers they show pics of their mod with a tank on it and comment about it being a nice vape lol

Did you look at the shipping time? They only need three plus months for delivery.
