I need some help, I have been trying to find rolls of kanthol clapton wire. Does anybody have a place they would recommend. I see stainless steel, i have never tried ss before. I really prefer kanthol but if i have no choice. I dont temp on my rdas just wattage.

I love being able to choose the gauge, then wire length from drop down menus. Easy, and fast.

Just click on the wire options you want. Kanthal options are limited though.

@SessionDrummer @Lostmarbles I looked at those last night none of them are premade clapton, The only premade clapton i saw was ss. I wish i had taken the time to learn to make my own clapton wire.

single core claptons are easy. Just need a drill, a couple of swivels, a Beadalong spool tamer and something to attach the swivel to. There are a lot of you tube videos to walk you through.
There used to be a longer version of this, but it’s been reduced to a quick vid.

N80 might be closer to the Kanthal (and more options). IMO, the N80 do real well if you’re not looking for temp control wire.

I’d stay away from the pirate coil on Amazon. I’ve purchased those before and they don’t perform really well. Their premade coil wire burn out really fast. Wire opium is where I buy my wire to spin claptons, fused claptons and frame staples. It always performs really well.

You can use both in straight watts. All things being equal the Nichrome will be lower ohms than Kanthal, and SS316 lower ohms than the Nichrome.

While both contain Nickel, the NIchrome contains more than SS.

The only Kanthol wire that Wire Otium offers right now is pre wrapped coils. Per 10 coils you can choose the diameter from 2.0-4.0, the gauge of inner and outer wire and how many wraps you want.

Type in Clapton on the search bar. Look for single Clapton’s or 2 core fused Clapton’s.

Kanthal claptons are probably hard to find anymore, If your in the States I have a roll of Wotofo N80 3core claptons if you want…

@Rocky02852 I will probably take you up on the wire, just want to research on building with nicrome, I have always built with kanthol. Just want to read up on dry burning resistance and so forth.

Honestly I don’t do anything different between Kanthal and N80, I probably got a bunch of premade Kanthal coils kicking around also, need to unload… pm me :ok_hand:
