I saw your post about that! I technically have half the kit in a mini zip case, I just don’t have the coil wrappers or the atomizer stand. I’m trying not to spend too much $ right now. I’m definitely considering wrapping my own coils somewhere in the near future though.
Thanks everyone for your help! Much appreciated.
You don’t need all the tools to get started. A simple metric screwdriver set, a needle nose plyers, and the best side cutter you can find. What you call an atomizer stand is a Ohm meter. I never used mine. I use my mod.
Read up on ohm’s Law. It will dictate what wire you use to build your coil. Start small and simple till you graduate to a more complex coil.
Indeed, true. But… toys!
Sorry @Mediocre_Remedial … I don’t mean to cause your credit card to melt purchasing vape stuff!
Heck, I started myself with a set of jewelers screwdrivers and an ohm meter, twisting up wire for my eVod disposable coils.
Man! That was some small wire and coils! I think it was 32/34ga kanthal.
Glad those days are long gone!
Many of my two coil tanks are built with smaller wire. I shoot for ohm’s and use SS. 2)28-40 SS fused Clapton’s 4 winds 3.0 ID puts me right at 0.20 Ohm’s. Power efficiency is top notch at 30/35 watts till they get gunked up all I have to do is move up to 40/45 watts until I get enough energy to burn off the gunk and replace cotton. I get about 7 coils on a 4 foot piece of 28ga SS wire . A 2 foot stick and about 15 minutes lasts a long time.
OMG THE EVOD!!! It was the first vape I ever used since the cig-a-likes!! I don’t even think I was old enough to buy cigarettes when I first used that thing lol. I smoked cigarettes though.
The guy at the vape store let me use the aegis L300 they had on display. He told me there was really nothing different from the L200. I checked it out, and it’s gimmicky little touch sensor… People were saying you need “bare skin” on the fire button. I was able to fire it through the sleeve of my shirt though. Maybe it’s heat sensitive? Idk guys. While it was a nice, sleek lookin thing, I think I’m gonna send it back once it gets here and buy another L200. It unlocked if I did as little as pinch the back in my fingers, or touched it on the sleeve of my arm. It’s very, very sensitive.
The power modes, all the boost does is up the wattage or something, smart mode didn’t feel different, power mode just felt regular. It no longer let’s you change the wattage in increments of .5.
It might be nice for someone who wants to take advantage of some of the other features, but I don’t use that stuff.
Sometimes it’s the devil you know is always better
Well, I just went and ordered another aegis legend 2. I had to buy the kit because they have no colors available for just single box mods. (Can’t help but wonder if that’s on purpose.) I’m gonna end up sending the touchy one back when it gets here. Sucks I gotta pay for shipping though.
I chose the pink gold color, looks nice. It’s just with the way I am, I know me. I know that the touch lock is gonna drive me insane. I just don’t trust the longevity either, especially with the way I constantly carry it in my hand.
Great example, they say to put that “smart” lock in unlocked mode when wearing gloves. If im wearing gloves, I’m gonna be throwing my vape back in my pocket. Why would I want it unlocked? Wtf? Especially if it’s snowing like the other day. I could still lock it through my gloves and stick it back in my pocket. Like. What the hell. The fact they didn’t even implement a full fire button lock is just downright stupid.
Also, they don’t publish bad reviews on their website. I garuntee you, there’s gotta be tons of pissed off reviews about the lack of a real lock button, they simply don’t allow them to be published.
And all of the people who review and got sent a free device, of course they’re positive. They get free sh to say positive things.
I looked at the L300 to see the difference and couldnt figure out much then i seen dual 18650. After the Guar21 and the L200 ill never go back to 18650. Dual 21700 for me. I do have old mods that ill use 18650 but new mods i wont do it
The lack of a physical lock in favor of a touch sensor “lock” was just the deal breaker for me on the L300. I’m sticking with my gut feeling on this one. I checked one out in person, it was nice looking, the screen looked good and perhaps the handle material would have held up better, but it just didn’t really impress me enough to give up having a physical lock. It felt very gimmicky. I use the lock switch so much it’s second nature.
Let’s hear the skinny @fidalgo_vapes!! What’s the pros of the 21700’s vs. the 18650’s?! Thx bro
Changing Batteries plain and simple…18650s i would havve to change a couple times a day , 21700 Maybe once the next day if im only using one device. Personally I dont want to buy 18640 and 21700s so I wont buy 18650 mods anymore.
That’s what I thought you were gonna say.
I just accidentally discovered a feature on my L200 I’ve never even used. I was trying to remember how to change the color on the screen, and I held down the - + and fire button all at the same time. It turns off the screen and locks the wattage. That’s genius. How the hell did they go so backwards (in my opinion) with the new model?
This is the email I got back from geekvape when requesting a return. The only thing that’s making me have second thoughts now is all the reports I read from people where their top plate on the L200 breaks off. I must have gotten lucky with mine. I’ve dropped it numerous times, and the top is still secures can be. They updated that on the L300 so that it’s not as weak. Seems like my batteries have been running out a lot more quickly lately too. Nevermind, I thought the L300 had 217000 battery support, that was the L200 classic…I still have another regular L200 on the way.
I’m actually considering keeping this, I absolutely despise the smart lock though.
I actually wonder if having these silicone bands on my tanks has somehow helped prevent the plastic piece from breaking? I only have them on there to protect my tanks. The silicon ring does protrude past the sides of the mod, I wonder its absorbes enough shock to make a difference. I’ve dropped this thing numerous times at standing height where it lands on its side.
Im thinking about keeping both. That just feels really excessive to me though. Then again, one can be a backup. I don’t know what to do here.
Tried calling was greeted by a sweet sounding little Chinese woman that told me to go to the email.
So basically the customer service hotline can’t do anything about giving me an RMA number. Man this is ridiculous. I’m never buying from geek vape again.
I just deleted my post instead of replying to it.
On the website it clearly states that I need an RMA number else I won’t be refunded. I got in contact with the customer service via email, they sent me the address to return the device but did not give me any RMA number. When I requested the RMA number, My email was just seemingly ignored.
I’m going to try to get in touch with the local vape shop I like to go to. I ended up paying $70 total for this, but since I would have to pay for return shipping anyway, I wonder if they would buy it from me for $60. If they did a $20 markup that would mean almost $30 profit for them.
I know they only carry kits, so it might actually be a good situation for them.
