I QUIT Smoking by VAPING. The DATE, My STORY

@Pandormaniac @jim16 Both of your stories are inspiring. Vaping has allowed me to be cigarette and smoke free for 7 1/2 years, and for that I am very grateful. We are the lucky ones. Thanks to each of you for sharing your experience.

My quit date this time isnā€™t that long ago. May 10 2021. This however is the easiest time Iā€™ve had out of the 5 long term efforts Iā€™ve made. I actually have 2 cartons of smokes in a drawer that Iā€™m going to give away as I have no desire for them.

I have quit for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years tried vaping in 2014 but didnā€™t last long as I got tired of the hassle of carrying around ejuice and chargers etc. This time with the pods they have now and all day batteries and 4ml tanks Iā€™m having no issues at all.

I have smoked on and off for 42 years and I honestly didnā€™t ever believe I would quit. Then my grandson started asking questions. Will a smoke hurt me if I out it in my mouth? Can the smoke from it hurt me if I breath it? Also a few more but it was enough. I happened to get an email from canvape.com they were changing up their site and could I go and set up a new account. So I did and here I am.

Iā€™ve never been able to quit and not crave. Vaping was the closest I came but again the hassle didnā€™t seem worth it. Pod systems make this a whole new ball game.

Iā€™m really disappointed in the government crack down on flavours. I can see it in disposables and prefilled because they make it too easy for kids. Letā€™s face kids canā€™t be bothered with more than that so leave it a adults to our flavours for non prefils.

Anyway Iā€™m here now to learn how to make my own because as long as my grandson might follow in my foot steps I want to make it as safe for him as I can.

Congrats on quitting the cigs. I hope you continue to find vaping helpful and enjoyable. Like you, I am concerned about the current and potential restrictions on gear, nic and flavors. Many of the media stories about vaping are so negative. There are certain shows I watch by streaming and many times up pops an anti-vaping adā€¦itā€™s time to quit. I havenā€™t seen an anti-smoking ad pop up in ages. In 2019 in the USA about 480,000 people died from smoking. That same year vaping was cited as cause of death for 37 people. 37 vs. 480,000. So why so many ads on quitting vaping? Makes me curiouser and curiouser. Oh, and in 2018 the number of people who died from household chemicals and cleaning agents was about 62,000. Iā€™ve never seen an ad campaign about locking up your household cleaning supplies or restrictions on not letting minors buy cleaning supplies at the store. Hmmmm.
Well, time to get off my soapbox !!

A fine motivation. Luckily you have a mixed bag of people here who are always happy to help.

Despite the fact that vapingā€™s significantly less destructive than smoking, itā€™s not innocuous. So you should plan to ultimately stop vaping as well, however just when you realize you will not return to smoking.

" just when you realize you will not return to smoking"

After many years of smoke-free existence, as a vaper, Iā€™m still terrified of becoming a smoker again.
I know there are many, many folk that are able to successfully quit nicotine alltogether. Itā€™s awesome and I encourage everyone to try to free themselves from all addictions. I just havenā€™t been successfulā€¦ yet.

Welcome to ELR @Bc_Farmers_Craft.

@Alisa, I always love, love, LOVE when you stop in, JUST for the record. AND, Iā€™m in EXACTLY ^^^^ the same boat.

Welcome to the forum.
@Alisa I, also, never want to return to smoking. My last two addictions are nic via vaping and coffee. When the time was right, I worked on the others (and am a person in recovery). I have a good friend who I consider to be wise and she has told me that when the time is right, something changesā€¦and my job is to be open if and when that time arrives.

Hello. Iā€™ve read quite a lot of interesting stories. I started smoking around 12 y/o. Although some might say that I started younger because my mother and my father smoked and when they finished a cigarette and, they threw them out the lighted butt, I would ran after it and give the cig butt a few puffs.
Iā€™m 42 rears now and, I donā€™t keep an exact account on how many years have passed since I quit smoking. Letā€™s just say that I started vaping back when we had to modify flash lights to make our own vaping devicesā€¦ whatā€™s that? around 2010-2011?.. I quit once and I havenā€™t had a cigarette ever again. I started vaping at 18 mg/ml nic and lowered down to 3 mg/ml.
My father used to smoke a lot. He smoked 3 and even 4 packs a day. He died of COPD at 72 y/o after being connected to oxygen for 3 consecutive years.

Congrats on quitting. Like you, I started smoking young. I am so grateful to have vaping as an alternative. This September 30th will be my 8 year anniversary of my last cigarette.

@Blessing Welcome to the forum. This is a great community to be a part of. We are the ā€œfeet on the groundā€ (though we are in the cyber world  ) when it comes to mixing and other vape related stuff. There are some fine folks here.

Anything is possible, having tried to quit smoking by every means possible. Finally on October 1/2010, I quit by vaping. My anniversary is coming soon, and didnā€™t want to miss the date that I am so proud of! I make my own juice, and even got my son to quit smoking. I enjoy every aspect of DIY, consider it the best hobby I have ever had, as well as helping to keep myself and my son so much healthier.

Congrats on your upcoming quit anniversary. 11 years is a LONG time and should be celebrated. Mine is on September 30th and it will be 8 years for me. It doesnā€™t seem that long and vaping has saved my health and my pocketbook.
