Ouch, I bet it hurt but I’m sure she didn’t feel a thing . Luckily I haven’t broken my pinky toe but dang it still hurts like the dikkens whenever I hit it
Such a wealth of information in this post. I emailed GC to get on the waitlist. I’m gonna have to reread and read a 3rd time I think
PEBKAC?
(Only joking my friend. Except for the part about the microwave.)
Bro. ya know you have to spell it out. I tried but I was never very good at that but if its funny then I need to know. LOL
For inquiring minds and such…
I’ve had my Anova AN 500 with Bluetooth for about 3 years and works like a gem! I purchased it for cooking but started using it for making e-liquid about 6 months ago. It heats the water super fast to 60c/140f in a matter of minutes. Don’t get hung up on what type of container you use - you can use just about anything. I can heat any sized bottle without a problem. I use a small (and deep) plastic food container and have a glass beaker upside down to sit my bottles on - minimum water level is not an issue (see photo - I’m heating 10ml solution in a 15ml screw top vial). I plan to find a styrofoam container which will better retain heat, and will fashion something out of something (yet to be decided ) to rest my bottles on/in.
With a stroke of pure luck the small GC fits my 15ml screw top vials which I use for recipe samples and single flavor tests!

LOL yep that was funny but not really. Just kidding bro. it was funny.

While funny… (even though they misspelled it) nyuk nyuk nyuk…
If serious about using it, that’s not got a snowball’s chance of working for the GC.
Being for a baby, I’d be surprised if it’d get above 98.6 (and probably not even that high). Last I knew, formula/milk was only supposed to be “warm” on the inside of the wrist.
120°F is pretty much the bare minimum IMO, with 140°F being the suggested target.
It takes 18 degrees water to 38degrees in 90 seconds. Also I asked if I could just heat it longer and they said yes. Post below. If it dosn’t work I can take it back.
Actually Nuk is a brand …or am i missing something ?? They misspelled what ?
Maybe it’s a 3 Stooges reference. I don’t know. Also @Sprkslfly on what basis do you think that it has a snowball chance? I would probably only need 50ml of VG for a few batches anyway. I understand if I was doing large quantities it may not be appropriate but for my purposes I think it would be more than adequate. The GC is in transit at the moment. If I get one of these i’ll make a video and eat humble pie if it’s not good.
I’m certainly interested in finding out if it works for your purposes. I love that y’all are getting different things for your “labs”.
I am such a cheap skate that the microwave works perfectly for me. The only way I would purchase something else is because I don’t want to have to get up and leave the room.
What is PS?
If it works don’t fix it. What do you use to measure the temp? And maybe I should ask how do you know what to set the microwave on so you don’t boil your vg?
ProScientific. It’s a long small diameter probe.
@anon36682625 Hi Dan, how’s your knee coming along? Are you doing Double Dutch rope skipping with your grandchildren yet?
Does the GC come with basic mixing instructions? I’ve been reading various posts and everyone has their preferred way of doing things. I’d like to choose a way that’s most convenient but appropriate like homogenizing right in the bottle so I don’t need to transfer anything. And then I think you said it’s okay to heat everything together before using the probe? Or maybe someone else said that, Idk.
It depends on how much is in it but 10 to 15 seconds usually works and if it needs more I will do another 10 sec.
So basically I put it in for 10 sec. bursts and no I do not boil it. I bring it to 200 degree Fahrenheit and by the time I get down stairs and start mixing it is usually between 150 and 190 F.
I use two different thermometers. Not the exact two below but something very similar. Any Pulp Thermometer or meat therm. will work.
